🌳 You’d be surprised what tree roots can do to underground piping!

On this repair, the irrigation lines hadn’t been punctured by roots — they were actually being squeezed by them.

As the roots continued growing, they put more and more pressure on the irrigation piping until the lines were pinched down and eventually split open, causing a leak underground.

We exposed the damaged area, removed the failed sections, and repaired the irrigation lines to get everything back in working order. 🔧💧

Roots are powerful, and underground piping doesn’t always win the fight!

Sometimes it’s not grease, roots, or wipes—it’s good old-fashioned sediment. 🔧

We were called out to a commercial building for a hub drain that wasn’t draining properly. Once we got into it, we found a significant amount of sediment had built up inside the drain.

The hub drain also had a trap seal, which gave all that sediment a perfect place to settle and accumulate until eventually there just wasn’t enough room for the water to flow properly.

We broke up and cleared the buildup, cleaned the line, and got the hub drain flowing again. 💪

Commercial drains can slowly accumulate debris for years before they finally give you a problem. When they do, Renegade Plumbing is ready to get things moving again.

🚽 This urinal just wouldn’t quit!

We were called out for a urinal that was constantly running, and once we opened up the flushometer, we found the culprit—the existing diaphragm had broken apart inside the valve.

A failed diaphragm can keep the flush valve from closing properly, allowing water to continuously run through the fixture. We removed the damaged parts, repaired the flushometer, and got everything shutting off and flushing like it should.

Small repair, but an important one—especially in a commercial building where a constantly running fixture can waste a LOT of water.

🧻 Today’s lesson: BABY WIPES ARE NOT FLUSHABLE!

This commercial building had a mainline stoppage backing up two different suites, and once we got into the old cast-iron drain system, we found out exactly why.

We pulled out what can only be described as a METRIC TON of baby wipes. 😂

Pile after pile kept coming out of the mainline.

Older cast iron is already rough on the inside, making it much easier for wipes and debris to hang up. Once a few catch, they can start collecting more until eventually the line says NOPE and everybody downstream gets to share the problem.

And yes—even if the package says “flushable,” wipes don’t break apart like toilet paper and can contribute to sewer blockages.

Two suites stopped up. One mainline. A mountain of baby wipes.

Renegade Plumbing got in there, cleared the stoppage, and got everything flowing again. 💪🔧

💧 HIGHER WATER BILL? THERE COULD BE A LEAK HIDING SOMEWHERE.

We were called out after a homeowner noticed their water bill was higher than normal. With no obvious signs of where the extra water was going, the next step was to pressure test the water system.

A pressure test helps us determine whether the plumbing system is holding pressure or if there may be a leak hiding somewhere out of sight.

Possible leak locations can include:

🔧 Water lines inside the walls
🏠 Piping underneath the home
🌳 Underground water lines outside
🚽 Toilets or fixtures quietly using water
💧 Connections or piping with no visible signs of leakage

Not every plumbing leak leaves a puddle. Sometimes, the water bill is the first warning you get.

Testing the system gives us a starting point to determine whether a leak is present and where we need to investigate next.

If your water bill suddenly jumps, don’t just assume your water usage went up. Let’s find out where that water is going.

🚽 Running Toilets & A Garbage Disposal That Ate Something It Shouldn’t! 😂🔧

Today’s plumbing repairs included replacing worn-out toilet flappers and rescuing a garbage disposal from a foreign object that definitely wasn’t on the menu!

A bad flapper might seem minor, but if your toilet is constantly running or periodically refilling by itself, you could be sending a surprising amount of water straight down the drain.

And if your garbage disposal suddenly starts humming, grinding, rattling, or completely stops working—don’t keep flipping the switch! Something may be lodged inside. Continuing to run it can turn a simple removal into a damaged disposal.

A couple of small repairs, everything working properly again, and another homeowner taken care of. 💪

🔥 NEW WATER HEATER + NEW TOILET! 🚽🔧

Knocked out a couple of upgrades for a homeowner on this one!

We installed a new residential water heater and replaced the toilet, then tested everything to make sure the new installations were operating properly before wrapping up the job.

Two important fixtures homeowners depend on every single day — and two things you definitely want installed correctly the first time. 💪

Need a water heater replaced? Toilet giving you problems? Or have a list of plumbing projects you’ve been putting off?

🪠 Another Drain Cleared!

Today’s job: a stopped-up mop sink that wasn’t draining.

We ran our drain-cleaning equipment through the line, cleared the blockage, and got the mop sink draining properly again. 💪

A mop sink sees all kinds of dirt, debris, mop fibers, and cleaning residue—and eventually that buildup can bring the drain to a stop.

Slow drain? Completely stopped? Water backing up? Give Renegade Plumbing a call.

🔥 NO HOT WATER… BUT THE WATER HEATER WASN’T THE PROBLEM!

We came out for a gas water heater that wasn’t producing hot water.

Before tearing into the heater and replacing parts, we checked the basics — including the home’s gas supply.

👉 The gas meter was LOCKED OUT.

For whatever reason, gas service to the home had been shut off and the meter was locked. With no gas reaching the water heater, it didn’t have a fuel source to heat the water.

Sometimes good troubleshooting means checking the obvious before assuming the equipment has failed.

If your gas water heater suddenly stops heating, take a look at your gas meter and make sure your gas service is actually on. If the meter has been locked by the utility company, do not tamper with or remove the lock — contact your gas provider.

And if the gas is on but you’re still taking cold showers, call Renegade Plumbing and we’ll figure out what’s going on.
