📐Calibrating the crew 🎯

Eagle Surveying brought together our General Survey, Construction, and Reality Capture teams for a company-wide field meeting. The agenda covered safety protocols, field procedures, equipment standards, and operational updates across all three divisions.

Meetings like this keep our crews aligned and our standards consistent. When 20+ field professionals are in the same room reviewing how we work, the result shows up in every project we deliver.

We also welcomed Andy Jackson, PLS, to his first field meeting as our new Director of Construction Survey Operations.

Every topographic survey and ALTA/NSPS Land Title Survey starts with control.

Our team has been out on a campus expansion project in Carrollton, TX, setting and observing GPS control points across the site before topographic mapping and LiDAR data collection begin.

It is quiet, precise work, but it is the foundation that ties the entire project together and keeps each dataset accurate and consistent.

Nothing better than a night at the ballpark. ⚾

We enjoyed treating Brandon Davis with Cromwell Commercial Group and his family to a Rangers game in Arlington. Always appreciate the relationships we get to build with great people across Waco and beyond.

It’s not every day the property line is also the state line. 📍

While surveying near El Paso, our crew found a called monument marked “NM-TX” on the New Mexico-Texas state line, giving Party Chief James Wilson the chance to stand with one foot in Texas and one in New Mexico.

This month's Lunch & Learn focused on Stafford v. King (1867), one of Texas’s foundational boundary-law cases and an important authority on the dignity of calls.

The case explains the general priority given to natural objects, artificial objects, course, and distance when calls within a land description conflict. It also reinforces one of the most important principles in boundary surveying: the goal is to determine the original surveyor’s intent and follow the footsteps of the survey on the ground whenever they can be identified.

Thank you to Matt Raabe and Patrick Mallon for leading the discussion and walking our team through the case, its historical significance, and how these principles continue to guide boundary analysis today. Continuing education like this helps strengthen our technical knowledge and the quality of work we provide to our clients.

Our Reality Capture team recently completed a 3D laser scan of a staircase for a client project.

The scan was used to capture the existing conditions of the staircase for design and construction. Every detail was recorded as a dense, survey-grade point cloud, allowing the project team to take accurate measurements, verify dimensions, and reference existing conditions without returning to the site.

A tape measure gets you close. A laser scan gets you exact.

Back-to-school season looks a little different for our team. ✏️📍

Eagle Surveying completed topographic surveying and LiDAR data collection across seven campuses, documenting existing conditions at each site.

A little surveying before the first bell rings.

Eagle Surveying's Reality Capture team provided drone LiDAR data collection throughout an active earthwork project in .

By collecting LiDAR data at multiple stages and comparing it to the contractor's finished surface plans, our team helped reduce field time for the earthwork contractor. The data showed exactly how much material had been moved, how much still needed to be cut or filled, and how much additional material would need to be brought on site.

Having that information throughout construction meant fewer guesses and more informed decisions. The contractor could track progress against the design in real time and keep the project on schedule.

Project Spotlight: 18+ acres in Travis County.

Our team recently completed an as-built ALTA survey on a large-scale retail development in , just east of Austin.

As-built ALTA surveys are a critical final step in commercial development. They verify that constructed improvements align with approved plans, confirm boundary compliance, and give lenders, title companies, and owners the confidence they need to close.
