Iowa is seeing the highest mosquito levels of West Nile Virus in 20+ years. Risk is highest in August & September.
🦟 Protect yourself:
✔️ Use bug spray (DEET, picaridin, oil of lemon eucalyptus, or IR3535)
✔️ Wear long sleeves & pants at dawn/dusk
✔️ Dump standing water around your home
✔️ Keep screens on windows/doors in good repair
Most people don’t get sick, but severe cases can cause serious illness. Stay safe & mosquito-smart this season! 🌿

📣 PSA: Springtails Are Taking Over – Here’s Why Spraying Alone Won’t Fix It

We’ve had a ton of calls lately about small jumping bugs invading basements, bathrooms, and other damp spaces — if you’re dealing with this, you’re not alone. These moisture-loving pests are called Springtails, and thanks to the recent humidity and rain, they’re showing up everywhere.

Here’s the deal:
✅ Springtails are not dangerous or harmful
✅ Spraying alone won’t keep them away
✅ The real solution is controlling moisture and humidity

As a licensed pest control operator, I follow all product labels and regulations — and unfortunately, springtails tend to show up in areas where I legally can’t apply pesticide (like sinks, drains, behind walls, showers/tubes). Even when we can treat, the results won’t last long if humidity stays high.

What helps?
• Run dehumidifiers (especially in basements and high activity areas)
• Fix any leaks or areas with standing water
• Improve ventilation in crawlspaces, bathrooms, and laundry rooms (fans)
• Seal cracks or gaps where moisture can get in

We’re always happy to help assess the situation and support with what we can do — but honest truth? Moisture control is key.
