1️⃣ Myth: “Pavers are way too expensive.”
The Reality: While the upfront cost of pavers can be higher than poured concrete, they are actually a smarter long-term investment. Concrete cracks and requires a full, costly replacement. Pavers can last 30+ years, and if one gets damaged, you only replace that single piece.
2️⃣ Myth: “Weeds will constantly grow through them.”
The Reality: Weeds don’t grow up from under the pavers. They happen when wind blows seeds into open joints from above. If your installer uses polymeric sand (a special sand that hardens like glue when wet) to fill the joints, weeds won’t stand a chance.
3️⃣ Myth: “Pavers shift, sink, and get uneven over time.”
The Reality: Pavers don’t shift, bad shifting happens because of poor installation. If the base layer of gravel and sand is excavated and compacted correctly, your pavers will stay perfectly level and handle heavy traffic for decades.
4️⃣ Myth: “They require too much maintenance.”
The Reality: Pavers are incredibly low-maintenance! A quick sweep and a hose-down now and then is usually all it takes. Sealing them every 3 to 5 years helps protect the color and joint sand, but it’s a quick weekend DIY or a fast professional touch-up.
5️⃣ Myth: “Concrete slabs are stronger than pavers.”
The Reality: It’s actually the opposite. Poured concrete is rigid, so when the ground shifts or freezes, it cracks. Pavers form a flexible interlocking system. They distribute weight evenly and shift with the earth without cracking, making them up to 4 times stronger than standard concrete!
