The tree towering over my flower stand is a Larch, or Tamarack Tree, planted many years ago by my dad. He passed away in 2008, and was an avid gardener. (I credit him for influencing my love for growing flowers and gardening). Larch trees are unusual because they are one of the only conifer trees to shed its needles. Our tree is just beginning to turn yellow and will soon drop all its needles for the winter. It looks quite dreary in the cold, but will turn green again in the spring. Such a uniquely beautiful tree!
