Do you have pavers?
Do you have sand in your paver joints?
Would you like that sand in those joints to stay put?
Get your pavers sealed, and make sure you're getting the right type of sealer.
Most paver-sealers that you buy at stores like Home Depot, Lowe's etc... are fine in their own right, but most aren't joint-stabilizing sealers.
In addition to not providing joint stabilizing, most of these paver sealers will have to be touched-up/redone in a year or two.
Joint-Stabilizing allows the sealer to bond with the sand, creating a near concrete finish, and helps to lock this sand into those paver joints, so things like rain, wind, etc... won't wash out, or blow out the joints.
Using joint-stabilizing sealer will greatly reduce/slowdown the emergence of grass/weeds growing in your paver joints.
Nature finds a way of transplanting grass/weed seeds into low spots in between pavers, where they can gather moisture, sprout, and take root to grow.
In most settings, the grass/weed growth in your paver joints, is not coming up from underneath your pavers, but through the grass/weed seeds that find their way into the joints.
If you want sand in your paver joints, and you want it to stay for as long as possible, those who like to DIY, always look for "joint-stabilizing" in the description of the paver sealers you're buying.
For those who hire contractors/companies to do your paver sealing, demand they use a joint-stabilizing paver sealer.
Age, Wear & Tear, and the Elements: wind, rain, sun, etc... will diminish your sealer over time, but good sealer should last well beyond "cheaper" sealers that aren't designed to be long-lasting.
