We love our Eastern White Pines for their towering presence, but we have to be honest about their biology: sometimes, their branches are just going to break.

Because White Pines have naturally brittle wood and grow long limbs that act as heavy levers, they are prone to failure during intense storms, and even the best pruning can’t always override physics.

However, there is a big difference between an unavoidable break and a predictable risk.

While we can't make a tree storm-proof, a professional assessment can identify high-risk areas before the wind picks up. During a property walk-through, we will look for:
▪️Overextended leads: Branches that have too much leverage and need weight mitigation to reduce their sail.

Love your shade, but worried about that old tree?

We recently gave this beautiful Boxelder a new lease on life. By reducing the "sail" (weight) on the overextended leads and installing a structural steel cable, we’ve significantly reduced the risk of failure at the main union.

We were back on-site this week visiting an old friend—a beautiful Honeylocust we’ve been maintaining for several years. To keep this giant thriving and safe, we performed a "comprehensive tune-up":

✅ Safety First: Inspected the steel cables we installed previously to ensure the structural integrity remains rock-solid.

✅ Clean Up: Removed large deadwood from the canopy to help our client keep their property cleaner.

✅ Wind Protection: Performed strategic "sail reductions." By thinning the outer canopy, we allow wind to pass through more easily, reducing the "sail effect" and protecting the tree during Wisconsin’s summer storms.
