🏚️➡️🏠 FROM OLD METAL TO A COMPLETE ROOFING SYSTEM | SWEETWATER, TN

This farm building in Sweetwater, Tennessee needed quite a bit more than a new roof.

Once we removed the old metal roofing, we found water-damaged rafters that needed to be repaired before we could move forward. We wanted to make sure everything underneath the new roof was solid—not just cover up the problem.

🔨 Here’s what went into this one:

* Removed the existing metal roof
* Repaired water-damaged rafters
* Installed new 2x6 roof slats
* Decked the entire roof with 7/16” OSB
* Installed new sub-fascia around the entire building
* Finished it with a GAF Total Roofing System in Charcoal

The before-and-after pictures tell the story. What started as an aging metal roof is now a properly rebuilt roof structure with a complete GAF roofing system protecting it.

🏠 Remember this Spring City roof? Here’s the AFTER!

When we posted the before pictures, we said this one was going to be a dramatic change. We weren’t kidding!

This Spring City project involved quite a bit more than simply putting on new shingles.

We removed the old metal roofing, decked the home with new OSB, and installed new fascia boards to give us a solid, properly prepared foundation for the new roofing system.

Then came the transformation — a complete GAF roofing system featuring Timberline HDZ® in Midnight Mesa.

⛈️ SEVERE THUNDERSTORM ALERT — PLEASE STAY SAFE

We have a strong storm moving through our area with winds potentially reaching 65 MPH. Winds that strong can bring down trees and limbs and can also cause roof damage.

A few things to remember tonight:

• Stay indoors and away from windows while the storm passes.
• Don’t go outside during the storm trying to check your roof.
• If you find shingles or roofing material in the yard afterward, take a few pictures and keep the material if you can.
• Don’t feel pressured to sign anything with someone knocking on your door after the storm. Take your time and choose a local, established contractor you trust.

If you suspect your roof was damaged, we’ll be happy to take a look and give you an honest assessment.

⛈️ Think You Have Storm Damage? Here’s What You Should Do.

After a strong storm, it can be confusing knowing where to start. Here are a few simple steps we recommend homeowners follow:

1️⃣ Contact YOUR insurance company first.
If you believe your roof has storm damage, contact your insurance company and report the damage. They’ll explain your coverage, deductible and the process for filing a claim.

2️⃣ Document what you can safely see.
Take pictures of fallen limbs, missing shingles, hail, damaged gutters or anything else you notice around your property. There’s no reason to climb onto the roof yourself.

3️⃣ Have a reputable roofing contractor inspect the roof.
Once you have a claim started, a roofer can inspect the roof and give you an honest assessment of its condition and an estimate for the work that actually needs to be done.

4️⃣ Your contractor shouldn’t need to take over your insurance claim.
Your insurance policy and claim are between you and your insurance company. A roofing contractor may occasionally need to answer questions or provide information regarding the roof or estimate, but there generally isn’t a reason for the contractor to handle your claim for you.

5️⃣ Don’t feel pressured to sign anything.
Storms often bring storm-chasing salespeople into an area. Take your time. Understand anything you’re asked to sign and know exactly who will be installing your roof.

6️⃣ Choose your contractor based on more than the insurance check.
Look at their reputation, how long they’ve been in business, manufacturer certifications, warranties, BBB history and—most importantly—the quality of their work.

⛈️ STRONG STORMS LAST NIGHT? TAKE A LOOK AT YOUR ROOF — FROM THE GROUND!

Last night’s storms brought plenty of wind, heavy rain, and lightning across our area. If you’re concerned your roof may have taken a hit, there are a few things you can safely look for today:

🏠 Shingles or pieces of shingles in the yard
🏠 Missing or lifted shingles
🏠 Debris or tree limbs on the roof
🏠 Water spots or signs of leaking inside

And one more thing to watch for after a storm — the storm chasers.

If someone shows up at your door telling you that you need a new roof, don’t feel pressured to sign anything on the spot. Get a second or third opinion and choose a contractor you know will still be here after the storm is long gone.
