Everybody asks me, “Gunner, why are you friends with the competition?”
Well, here’s why.
Sometimes other local lawn care businesses send work my way, and I’ll do the same for them. We all know there’s plenty of work to go around, and helping each other out only makes all of us stronger.
Take today for example. I had a few jobs lined up, and my buddy Vito over at Vito’s Lawn Care LLC out of Berne was letting me borrow some equipment. I got everything loaded up in my truck… and it wouldn’t start.
Vito helped me try to jump it. We put a battery tender on it, hoping that would do the trick. No luck.
Then he looked at his truck, looked at me, and said, “Tell you what—load the equipment onto my trailer and take my truck. We’ll leave yours on the charger and hopefully it’ll start by the time you get back.”
That’s the kind of people you want to do business with.
It’s partnerships like these between small local businesses that make this line of work so rewarding. We may be competitors on paper, but at the end of the day we’re all just trying to make an honest living, help our customers, and look out for each other.
