🌧️ SE TEXAS — TROPICAL WEATHER IS HEADED OUR WAY! 🌧️
With tropical weather moving toward the Upper Texas Coast, now is a good time to make sure your septic system is ready for heavy rain and saturated ground conditions.
Too much rain can create problems for both conventional and aerobic septic systems. A few things to keep in mind:
✅ Limit unnecessary water usage during periods of heavy rain to avoid putting additional stress on your system.
✅ Make sure septic lids and risers are secure to help prevent rainwater from entering the system.
✅ Keep drainage and downspouts directed away from your septic tanks and drain field.
✅ Avoid driving or parking over your drain field, especially when the ground is saturated.
✅ Pay attention to alarms. If your aerobic system alarm activates during or after heavy rain, don’t ignore it.
⚠️ Never attempt to work on septic electrical components while standing in water or flooded conditions.
Heavy rainfall and flooding can overwhelm septic systems, cause drain fields to become saturated, and lead to pumps and other components working harder than normal.
Stay weather-aware and stay safe, Southeast Texas! 🌧️⛈️
