This week reminded us that safety never stops when the job is done.
A homeowner wanted only one branch removed from a dead, rotten tree. After our inspection, we recommended removing the entire tree due to its hazardous condition, but the homeowner chose to remove only the branch.
During the job, one log briefly caught fire. We immediately hosed it down, confirmed it was out, finished the work, and left with the homeowner satisfied.
About three hours later, the fire department called us back. Hidden heat inside the decayed wood had reignited, and part of the tree and garage caught fire.
Thankfully, everyone was safe. The firefighters did an outstanding job, and the homeowner was very understanding. We agreed to remove the remaining tree at no charge while the homeowner repairs the garage.
Lesson learned: From now on, any log that gets hot or catches fire will be moved onto concrete or another non-combustible surface and monitored before we leave.
Every job is an opportunity to learn and improve. Safety will always come first.

There is a big difference between just "cutting a tree" and doing a proper Crown Reduction. Today, we tackled the big one in the front yard, and the transformation is wild!

Before: Overgrown, heavy, and blocking the sun.

After: Thinned out, lowered, and looking much more balanced.
