Pool lights are easy to overlook when preparing for winter, but they deserve a spot on your end-of-season checklist. 💡💦

Before closing your pool, take a few minutes to visually inspect your underwater lights and surrounding fixtures for signs of damage, moisture or wear.
While pool lighting is designed to handle underwater conditions, electrical components still need attention to ensure everything stays in good working order.

If you notice anything unusual, leave the electrical work to a qualified professional. Pool lights aren't something you want to troubleshoot yourself.

A little attention now can help prevent surprises when it's time to open your pool next spring!

Store the Small Parts Together 🔧

One of the easiest ways to make next spring’s pool opening smoother? Keep track of the little things now.

Drain plugs, pressure gauges, baskets and other removable components can be surprisingly easy to misplace over the winter. As you winterize your pool, clean and label the parts you remove, then keep everything together in one clearly marked container in a dry location.

It’s a simple step, but when opening day arrives, you’ll be glad everything you need is right where you left it.

Pool season always seems to go by a little too quickly. 💦

As another Ohio summer winds down, we’ve been thinking about all the little things that make having a pool special.

Is it the quiet morning swims before the day gets started? The weekend cookouts with friends and family? Relaxing by the water after a long day? Or watching the kids spend hours in the pool until you finally have to tell them, “Okay, seriously… five more minutes.” 😂

Fall weather can change quickly—and a little preparation around the pool can save you some cleanup afterward. 🍂💨

Wind and rain can send loose leaves, dirt, mulch and lightweight items straight into the water. That means more debris for your skimmer baskets and filtration system to handle.

Before the next round of weather rolls through, take a few minutes to sweep the pool deck, clear away loose debris and put away floats, toys and other accessories that could blow around.

A cleaner deck today can mean a cleaner pool tomorrow.

Even if your family isn’t swimming as often, continue testing your water regularly while the pool and equipment are still operating.

Those big temperature swings between sunny afternoons and chilly nights don’t mean it’s time to stop paying attention to your water chemistry. Staying on top of your levels now can help keep the water in good shape as you move closer to closing season.

Don’t Forget the Waterline 💦

Before the winter cover goes on, take a few minutes to give your pool’s waterline some attention.

Throughout the swimming season, sunscreen, body oils and everyday debris can gradually collect along the edge of the pool. If that buildup is left behind when you close, it can sit there untouched throughout the winter.

Use a cleaner appropriate for your specific pool surface and take care of the waterline as part of your end-of-season cleanup.

It’s a small detail now that can make for a cleaner start when it’s time to open again next spring.
