A lower-level bar can be more than a place to keep bottles.

This one was designed as part bar, part gathering space, and part command center, with clean lines, generous storage, durable high-pressure aluminum laminate, and a layout built specifically for the room.

Nothing came from a catalog. Every section was made to fit the space and the way it would be used, completely custom.

That is the advantage of our work: the room does not have to adapt to the cabinetry. The cabinetry adapts to the room.

Have a space that needs something made specifically for it? Let's talk.

The final photo shows the original installation. The other images were enhanced for presentation; the work itself is real and unchanged.

Every home needs a place to land.

A well-designed mudroom keeps coats, shoes, backpacks and everyday clutter organized while adding beautiful, built-in storage that looks like it was always part of the home.

This custom mudroom was designed and built by us in 2023

If you've been thinking about adding a mudroom or built-in storage to your home, I'd be happy to discuss your ideas.

This great room was one of several projects we've completed over the years in Country Club of the North.

For the fireplace, we used a 16-foot beamm salvaged from a barn likely built around 1870, which we found at Tuscarora Wood in Covington, Ohio. The beam was hand-hewn, with the marks of the adze still visible, and joined with handmade wooden pegs rather than nails.

I kept a three-foot cutoff from that beam for years. The more I looked at it, the more I appreciated the skill that went into making it. It was remarkably straight and square, despite the deep marks left by the adze. Honestly, even if you'd handed me the same tools—and I managed not to bury the adze in my leg—I don't think I could have reproduced it. It wasn't simply an old piece of wood. The work itself approached being art.

The original photograph wasn't one of my better efforts, so it never made it into the portfolio. I've used AI here to improve the lighting and presentation while preserving the original work. The original photograph is included alongside it.

We returned to the home about six months later, just before Christmas, and the client had draped the mantel with thick, loose fir boughs. It transformed the room. My first thought was that it looked like a Vanderbilt hunting lodge at Christmas. She had a great eye for that.

Some projects become more than cabinetry—they become part of a family's story.

This custom vanity was built several years ago for a wonderful couple. Her husband affectionately called her his Queen, and after getting to know them, the name seemed to fit perfectly.

She loved graceful curves, carved details, and furniture that made a statement. Together we designed a vanity that reflected her style and felt as though it had always belonged in their home.

Unfortunately, I never made it back after the stone top was installed. It actually took nearly a year for them to find just the right slab. So after all this time, I finally completed the photograph the way I had always imagined seeing it.

Every project we build is custom designed around the people who will live with it. This vanity is one example of what's possible.

If you're planning a bathroom renovation or dreaming of something unique, we'd be happy to discuss ideas for your home.

Every once in a while I come across a project I wish I'd had time to photograph properly. This is one of them.

This kitchen combined dyed knotty alder cabinetry, a painted furniture-style hutch, and a hand-finished distressed black island and matching hood. Each finish was chosen to complement the others, giving the room warmth, contrast, and a sense that the cabinetry had evolved over time rather than being made from a single material.

I never had the opportunity to photograph the completed project, so these images are faithful restorations of installation photos. The cabinetry, layout, and details are exactly as built—presented the way I wish I'd been able to capture them when the job was finished.

Looking back through projects like this reminds me how many left the shop before I had a chance to document them properly.

This home was already beautiful.

We replaced the original contractor-installed mantel with one of our own design, custom built to better suit the room. It wasn't about making a dramatic change—it was about giving the fireplace the presence it should have had from the beginning.

Even in a beautiful home, thoughtful details can make all the difference.

Another project we completed a few years ago. We left and the stone work and decorating had not been done. My poor skills at photography, I did not have good representation of the finished projects. Which, photographing spaces is an art all on its own and at the time we couldn't find anyone to handle this for us. So, here they are, with the actual feel of the change the work made to this lower level.

One more AI enhanced photo. Again, the details were made more defined, the lighting evened. The actual work is as warm and lovely as shown, no modifications were done other than to bring out the richness of the woodwork and clarified the details. Just the actual beauty and feel of the work and space were made to look as it does in real life. In this instance, an open wine room in the lower level of a beautiful home.

Using AI to bring out the details of the work, I am ashamed at the level of photography skills I have. Here is another of our best works, the shadow removed and details stand out in a way that we never captured before. I will add that standing behind this bar, it felt like walking into a pub, a completely different feel than the rest of the lower level.

So, our shop does things the old fashioned way. Using skill and experience to craft quality cabinetry. And, it takes some adjustment to find the ways that AI can help us out. This is a project we did a decade ago but the photos we took were less than ideal. Chatgpt brought out the beauty of the wood that we worked hard to achieve.
