Many homeowners haven't needed their A/C as much as they normally would by now. But as the weather warms up, we're already seeing the shift from maintenance season to repair season. Ben explains in this video.

Every year, the hottest days of July and August are when systems work their hardest and when breakdowns become much more common.

A clean and check gives us the opportunity to clean your system, inspect key components, and catch small issues before they become uncomfortable (and often expensive) surprises.

This A/C is 28 years old.

Most companies see that number and immediately start talking about replacement because “it could die any minute.”

But for the last 3 seasons, we’ve been maintaining this system the same way we maintain any other: a full spring clean and check, a complete inspection, and honest feedback about how it’s actually performing.

As long as everything is operating within specifications, we let the homeowner know it’s running the way it should and we’ll hopefully see them again in the fall for their heating check.

Sometimes the right answer isn’t replacing equipment. Sometimes it’s simply maintaining it properly.

Before calling for A/C service, check these simple things first:

• Check your air filter
◦ Dirty filters can restrict airflow and cause your system to stop cooling properly.

• Check your thermostat
◦ Make sure it’s set to COOL and the temperature is lower than the current room temp.

• Replace thermostat batteries
◦ Weak batteries can cause blank screens or communication issues.

• Check your circuit breakers
◦ Sometimes the indoor or outdoor unit breaker can trip.

• Make sure your outdoor unit is clear
◦ Grass, weeds, cottonwood, or debris around the condenser can affect performance.

• Check that all vents are open
◦ Closed vents can reduce airflow and strain the system.

• Look for ice on refrigerant lines or the indoor coil
◦ Ice buildup usually means airflow or refrigerant issues and the system should be turned off before service.
