This gross looking thing, is a toilet fl**ge. To enlighten home owners. Most houses main drain lines are either 3 inch piping (some older homes) but most homes usually have 4 inch main drain.
What happened here is the original toilet fl**ge broke the ears off. That's where the bolts (anchors it to the fl**ge) they comes up thru the toilet bowl base.
Someone went to the lumber yard purchased one of there quick fix fl**ges. They just push into the pipe. Have stainless steel rotating ring on it that you turn to align the bolt holes.
Great idea right? Wrong this fl**ge creates new issues. 1. It gets pushed inside the drain pipe making the drain hole smaller. 2. The pvc insert in the fl**ge further reduces the open down to 2 inches. Now your water flow is restricted by 50 percent. 3. Then they used 2 wax rings and squished the wax out across the drain opening.
No one could figure out why the water saver toilet with a 3 inch outlet wouldn't flush right. Plus the toilet would not stop moving cause the stainless steel ring was never fastened to the slab.
Point. Not all quick fix products are worth buying.
