4TH OF JULY FIREWORKS

Remember to be safe and keep fireworks safety in mind when spending time with family this weekend and on July 4th! Here are a few pointers to help you stay safe:

-Never let small children play with or light fireworks. Make sure that there is an adult always around whenever fireworks are involved.

-Never keep pyrotechnics in your pocket or on your body, this could lead to server injury or even death. Never discharge fireworks from metal or glass containers due to the risk of a bigger explosion.

-Never try to relight pyrotechnics that hasn't fully ignited. If the firework is a dud, throw it away in a trash can filled with water.

-When igniting fireworks, never position any part of your body directly above or too close to the device.

-Before purchasing or using fireworks, be sure they are legal in your region. Make sure you also check your county's burn status if you are in an area under a drought warning forgo the fireworks this year!

It is unfortunate, but water damage is one of the most common types of property damage found in homes and commercial structures. Even worse, many water damage situations, like a burst pipe, often go unnoticed. The excess water caused by a plumbing mishap or weather conditions, such as heavy rain or floods, can lead to further internal issues. The moment you notice these issues, you’ll want to schedule professional water damage restoration.

The common signs of water damage that you must watch for include:

· Stains – On the ceiling, walls, and your favorite piece of furniture, excessive water damage causes staining. You may have spotted telltale water stains on the ceiling in the past, which appear as a dark circle.
· Warping – Many materials, including paint or wallpaper, will eventually warp with water damage. The same goes for wood flooring.
· Odors – If there is water damage in the walls, for example, mold will eventually begin to grow. You’ll start to notice the mildew-like odor that grows stronger the closer you are to the source.

If you start to notice these signs in your home, it’s time to call for professional water damage restoration services. Your local Restoration 1 of North GA can help with any amount of water damage in your home or office!

What to Do If the Toilet Overflows
A toilet overflow is a messy situation. Not only are you faced with water damage but there is raw sewage and high levels of contamination to contend with, too. It’s not just your home at risk here. Your health could be severely affected by the bacteria, viruses and parasites found in sewage waste.
So, what do you do if a toilet overflows?
• Shut off the water supply valve to the toilet immediately to mitigate water damage.
• Contact your utility companies, if you must, to have them shut off the electricity and water.
• Evacuate children, pregnant women, seniors and pets from the area until it is restored.
• Open up the windows to better ventilate the space.
• Remove dry, uncontaminated items from the area.
• Add a little chlorine bleach to the standing water to disinfect and prevent bacteria.
• Notify your insurance company of the water damage and start the claims process.
• Call your local restoration company for 24-hour water damage restoration.
If you’re dealing with a toilet overflow, you may have a sewage backup on your hands. Even if the toilet water is clean, there may still be contaminated. Contact your local Restoration 1 immediately!

What is Disaster Restoration?
Ask any homeowner what constitutes a disaster and you’ll wind up with a unique answer from each one. To a homeowner, a disaster is anything that devastates their home. From a burst pipe to a full-blown flood — disaster restoration and response is a broad industry with many facets. Let’s explore the most common disaster restoration focal points.
• Flood — A full home flood, in which everything must be restored or repaired, constitutes a water damage disaster or emergency. Almost nothing in the home is left untouched.
• Fire — A fire is, and always will be, a disaster to all of us. A single kitchen or electrical fire can tear your home down to its bones.
• Biohazard — A large scale biohazard disaster, while uncommon, is possible. Such a situation would require biohazard cleanup from a certified restoration company.
• Natural Disasters — Then, we have natural disasters — floods, tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes, etc. These situations are all-encompassing and devastating to everyone, not just a single home or business in the area.
At any point now or in the future, if a disaster strikes and devastates your home, call your local Restoration 1 of North Georgia. We offer 24-hour service for water damage, fire damage, flood damage, sewage cleanup and disaster recovery at a moment’s notice!
