I’m currently working on a different commission and ran into a roadblock that I had to think of a solution on how to go about it. So in order to clear my mind, I made this brick style end grain cutting board out of Walnut and Cherry. And I have to say, it did the trick and I’m moving right along on the other commission. After much longer than expected, here is the 95% complete bee hive! A big shoutout to my wife for salvaging a design after our toddlers decided that black/grey paint smears were the crucial design that had to go on everything else haha now that this undertaking is complete, it’s on to the next!

This week I’ve taken a break from planters and took the time to make something out of some scrap wood I had laying around. This is made from remnants of my coffee table, my MIL ottoman tray, a hinge that was in my shop when I moved in, and screws that were in my old house when I moved in. I love how, with a little elbow grease, scraps can become treasures!

Just in time for spring! I will be making these cedar planter boxes. They will be sold unpainted in their raw form. Cedar is naturally insect and water resistant, so there’s no need to cover the beautiful wood! However, I went ahead and painted one to better show how it might look should you decide to paint yours! These will go on sale later this coming week for 60$ a piece, or 2/$100.
