Going above and beyond for our neighbors isn’t extra for us—it’s just how we do business. 🐾🏡

When Allan reached out about unwanted rodents in his attic, our technician Aaron didn’t just resolve the problem with thorough inspection and professional exclusion. While on site, he noticed the family dog had gotten out, safely brought him back home, and made sure the property was secure before wrapping up.

That’s the difference of working with a family-owned, local pest control team in South Florida. We don’t treat your home like a quick service ticket—we treat you like a neighbor.

Here’s what Allan shared on Google:

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

“Aaron was fantastic! He came to our home to help with some unwelcomed rodents in our attic. He was super professional, attentive, and got the job done right. He even found my dog that had gotten out while I was away and brought him back home. Big shout out to Aaron! 5/5”

When the ground floods in South Florida, pests don't disappear — they move up. 🌧️🏠

Heavy tropical downpours and seasonal storms saturate local soils fast.

When outdoor nesting sites, root systems, and underground burrows fill with standing water, pests are forced to evacuate their natural habitats

and seek immediate, dry shelter.

Your home’s foundation, weep holes, and attic spaces become their target.

Here is what happens during a post-rain pest surge:

1️⃣ Ants evacuate flooded soil: Ground colonies get displaced within hours, pushing worker ants and queens up exterior walls and through door

thresholds into kitchens and bathrooms.

2️⃣ Roaches flee saturated drainage lines: Heavy rainfall fills exterior drains, mulch beds, and sewer connections, driving large roaches toward

dry entry points around plumbing penetrations and sliding door tracks.

3️⃣ Rodents make a vertical climb: As ground burrows and swales flood, rodents seek high ground, using overhanging palm fronds, rooflines,

and utility conduits to access dry attics and soffits.

4️⃣ Water accumulation feeds subterranean termites: Standing water along exterior slabs creates persistent moisture pockets that subterranean termites rely on to build mud tubes.

BREAKING: Invasive termites are spreading faster across South Florida homes.

A new University of Florida study, published in the Journal of Economic Entomology (2026), confirms that invasive subterranean termites are expanding across the Miami-Fort Lauderdale-West Palm Beach metropolitan area faster than previously projected.

Here's the finding: as of 2025, 12.1% of this metro area is now considered at risk of infestation by the Formosan subterranean termite, up from just 5.3% in 2015. For the Asian subterranean termite, the at-risk area rose to 9.1%, up from 2.8% in 2015. Combined, the area at risk of infestation by either invasive species is expected to reach 50% of the metro region by roughly 2038 to 2044.

Both species are notoriously difficult to detect early. They travel through mud tubes built from soil to reach wood, often staying hidden inside walls, foundations, and structural wood for long periods before visible damage appears.

🔍 What can reveal their presence?

- Mud tubes along foundations, slabs, or exterior walls

- Discarded wings near doors, windows, or light fixtures

- Hollow-sounding wood near baseboards or door frames

As invasive termite populations continue to establish across South Florida communities, professional inspection remains the most reliable way to detect activity before it spreads further.

Your cardboard boxes may be doing more than holding old stuff — they may be

giving cockroaches and silverfish a place to hide. 📦🪳

In South Florida, warm temperatures and humidity can turn garages, attics,

closets, and storage areas into ideal pest hideouts. Corrugated cardboard

creates dark, protected spaces where silverfish can hide, while roaches can

take advantage of clutter, moisture, and undisturbed storage.

Here are 5 cardboard storage mistakes to avoid:

1️⃣ Storing boxes where humidity builds up

2️⃣ Leaving boxes open and unchecked

3️⃣ Using cardboard for long-term garage or attic storage

4️⃣ Keeping paper, photos, books, or damp fabric inside cardboard

5️⃣ Holding onto old boxes when sealed plastic bins can protect your items

Silverfish are especially drawn to dark, humid storage areas and materials such as paper, glue, starches, book bindings, and natural fabrics. Roaches also use corrugated cardboard as a convenient shelter — especially when boxes are stored near moisture or left untouched for long periods.

A simple storage upgrade can make a real difference: move items into clean, sealed plastic bins with lids, reduce moisture, repair leaks, and inspect stored boxes regularly.

📲 Call EZ Pest Control for professional cockroach control, silverfish control, and residential pest control across South Florida.

Every termite swarm you've ever seen started years before you noticed it.

This is the full life cycle of the drywood termite — from a single egg hidden inside a wooden beam, to the swarm that finally gives the colony away. Most homeowners only see the last few seconds of a story that's already years in the making.

Drywood termites don't need soil contact. They don't need moisture from the ground. They live entirely inside the wood itself — which is exactly why an infestation can go undetected for years while the colony grows, feeds, and hollows out structural wood from the inside.

By the time you see winged termites swarming near a window or a porch light, the colony has already matured. That's not the beginning of a termite problem. That's years into one.

The swarm is a symptom. The colony is the problem.

🔍 Signs of termites to watch for: discarded wings near doors and windows, small pellet-like droppings (frass) near baseboards, and hollow-sounding wood.

📲 Don't wait for the swarm. Book a termite inspection with EZ Pest Control across South Florida.

You’ve probably eaten a few of these without ever knowing. 🌾

Rice weevils don’t appear overnight — they’re already inside the grain before you bring it home. By the time you spot activity, they’ve been there for weeks.

Here are 3 signs it’s not your imagination:

1️⃣ Tiny round holes in individual grains — that’s where an adult weevil chewed its way out.

2️⃣ Clumped or webbed grains — a clear sign something has been living inside the bag.

3️⃣ Small reddish‑brown beetles with a curved snout near the bag opening, often drawn to light around your kitchen window.

The fix isn’t tossing one bag — it’s checking every open container in your pantry and switching to airtight storage before the infestation spreads.

📲 Still finding holes in your rice or flour? That’s not a coincidence.

Call EZ Pest Control for pantry pest control across South Florida.

Cockroaches thrive in warm, humid environments — and standing water left behind in corners and along baseboards after a storm is exactly what they're looking for. That puddle you didn't fully dry up? That's an open invitation.

Here's the part most homeowners get wrong: store-bought sprays only treat the surface. Cockroaches spend very little time on exposed baseboards, countertops, and open floors — most of the colony is hiding in wall voids, under appliances, and behind cabinets.

Killing the few roaches you can see does nothing to the colony you can't.

🔍 If you're seeing roaches again days after cleaning up from a storm, the problem was never solved. It just went back into hiding.

📲 Break the cycle. Call EZ Pest Control for cockroach control and inspection across South Florida.

3 termites are swarming across South Florida right now — and only one of them explains most of the termite damage we see this time of year.

Here's how to tell them apart 👇

🔹 Eastern Subterranean Termite — small, dark brown-black body, smoky wings of equal length. Swarms in the morning or afternoon after warm rain and builds mud tubes along foundations to reach wood without ever being seen on the surface.

🔹 Formosan Subterranean Termite — yellowish-brown body, densely veined wings. Swarms at dusk near lights, late spring into early summer. Colonies can number in the millions and this species can damage wood, insulation,

and even soft metals in months, not years.

🔹 Drywood Termite — larger body, reddish-brown, clear wings. No soil contact needed; it lives entirely inside the wood. Swarm season runs late summer through fall, most active on warm afternoons after rain. Look for frass, small pellet-like droppings near baseboards and window sills.

Still not sure what you're looking at? Termite or flying ant, the waist is the #1 tell: broad and uniform on a termite, sharply pinched on an ant. Wings, antennae, and color are secondary clues.

📲 Don't spray it. Bag one in a sealed container and send us a photo — we'll help you identify it before you decide what to do next.
