I took on this job for a reason.
This is a "Green Ash" tree. The Green Ash has a problem. That problem is the "Emerald Ash Borer beetle." Both very common.
But the battle between these two species makes these trees less than desirable at your residence due to obvious safety concerns.
However, second chances at life are so important to how I look at myself as a person.
In this unique case, the customer absolutely did not want to cut down her tree, such as it is the only shade left on her property in central Davenport. This young lady was only 75 years old and she was truly upset that she might have to cut down her tree. So rather than try to talk her into cutting it down I explained to her everything she needed to know in order to make a professional informed decision about what to do.
Ultimately she wanted to keep the tree, being fully aware of possible increased maintenance needs. The tree, uniquely, had some well rooted, newer growth, prior to the emerald ash borer infestation reaching this particular tree. A lot of it survived.
So, I removed all the dead wood, and did a light pruning; to balance the tree, using the less is more methodology to preserve as much nutrient flow as possible. The customer is very happy, and I am happy with the result.
Big thank you to Char Wheeler for the opportunity to work with you at your home.
