Drilling holes in stumps is a waste of time. Buying magic stump rot potions and lotions is a waste of money. The stump will eventually degrade with the help of fungi and insects. Burning it is time-consuming and rarely successful. Digging it up is ridiculously labor intensive. ...or you could just have us grind it with a stump grinder, a machine purpose-built for the job. Are roots going under your house?

The short answer is, "Probably not."

It is possible, but most homes on a slab have a substantial foundation wall under the edges, which prevents roots from growing under your slab, and any roots that do grow under it don't caliper up enough to cause damage.

When roots hit the foundation, they don't try to break through. They can go up, but only so far until they run out of soil. They can go down, but they run out of oxygen pretty quickly (yes... roots need oxygen), and it is even possible that little explorer roots make it all the way under your foundation, but they won't like what they find on the other side (typically compacted clay with no nutrients, organic matter, or usable water), so they don't grow. Most often roots will simply turn left or right.

If you are still concerned there are roots growing under your house, we can use air to blow the soil away and look where the roots grow.
