๐ŸŒผ๐ŸŒฟ Do you live in an HOA? You can become 'allies in conservation' with a little planning to make your HOA a haven for pollinators. This is a free online event, but you must register at the link below....๐ŸŒฟ๐ŸŒผ

October 6 @ 11 AM PT / 12 PM MT / 1 PM CT / 2 PM ET

A growing number of our community members live in neighborhoods with Homeownerโ€™s Associations, covenants, or deed restrictions. With a little creativity and a lot of love for our insect neighbors, these spaces can be transformed into havens for pollinators!

Join us for this webinar, where Xerces Society staff Aaron Anderson and Jacqueline Buenrostro will discuss the many ways we can support the amazing invertebrates within HOA communities, with tips, tricks, and new resources to share for creating and maintaining habitat that is โ€œHOA-readyโ€.

Register here today! โžก https://us06web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_ApikAmSVSMyFHloNgyML0g

This webinar will be recorded and available on the Xerces YouTube channel on the Bee City USA Playlist. Closed Captioning will be available during this webinar. To request a reasonable accommodation or for inquiries about accessibility, please contact [email protected].

Do you know the importance of keeping your garden tools clean? If you are pruning and make a cut on a diseased plant and then use the same tool on the next plant, you can pass the disease on! Definitely not what you want to do. Here is an article from the University of Florida Extension with recommendations of which cleaning methods to use/or not to use! https://gardeningsolutions.ifas.ufl.edu/care/tools-and-equipment/disinfecting-tools/ *Photo credit Sue R

Wondering if there is an environmentally friendly way to control mosquito populations? The most pollinator-safe method to manage mosquitoes is eliminating standing water where mosquitoes breed. But, for water sources that cannot be emptied or drained, there is another important strategy - the use of biological controls, especially Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis (Bti). Bti is a strain of bacteria that naturally occurs in the soil. When applied to water, it targets mosquitoes by killing the larvae before they mature. More importantly, Bti does not harm pollinators, fish, birds, or mammals when used properly. Learn more about mosquitos, health and control at this upcoming workshop in Danville.
