🚨 EMERGENCY SINKHOLE REPAIR TA Travel Center Bloomsburg, PA 🚨

These before and after photos show an emergency repair our crew recently completed at the TA Travel Center in Bloomsburg, PA.

What started as severe alligator cracking and extensive pavement deterioration eventually turned into a dangerous sinkhole beneath the parking lot.

Here’s what happened…

As asphalt ages, cracks begin to open. If those cracks aren’t sealed, rainwater has only one place to go beneath the pavement. Over time, that water erodes the stone base supporting the asphalt, creating a hidden underground void. Eventually, the pavement collapses.

Thankfully:
✅ No one was injured.
✅ No trucks or vehicles were parked over the collapse.
✅ The hazard was identified before a much larger failure occurred.

Our crew responded quickly, excavated the failed area, removed the unstable material, rebuilt the foundation, and restored the area to a stable condition, preparing it for new pavement.

This repair could have been prevented.

🚧 Another busy couple of days for the Pave-It Inc. team! 🚧

Our paving crew just completed a 36,000 square foot driveway on Mountain Road in Paxinos. This project came with its share of challenges, including varying elevations, multiple tie in points, and a layout that required careful planning and ex*****on. The crew did an outstanding job, and we couldn’t be happier with the final results.

Meanwhile, our sealcoating crew was working just down the road, helping homeowners protect and preserve their asphalt investments. It’s always great when both crews are operating in the same area and showcasing the full range of services we provide.

🏘️ Recently, we attended a township meeting in Pennsylvania to discuss bids for several local roads.

Like many small municipalities, the township faces a difficult challenge: maintaining infrastructure with a limited budget. Several of the roads under consideration have reached the point where full-depth reconstruction would be the ideal long-term solution. However, budgets don’t always allow for ideal solutions.

Two of the township’s main streets have generated significant resident complaints due to rough conditions and vehicle damage concerns. To address the immediate safety and serviceability issues, the township considered a 1.5-inch mill and pave operation.

During our discussion, we explained the difference between a 1.5 inch overlay and a 2 inch overlay. While the additional half-inch may only increase the project cost by a few thousand dollars, it can provide meaningful improvements in pavement longevity, durability, and overall return on investment.

Does that mean a 2 inch overlay is always the right answer? Not necessarily.
