How do you modernize a 1916 Highland Park Colonial without erasing what makes it special? ✨

The homeowner loved the antique character of her home, but the kitchen no longer worked for the way she lives today. She needed better storage, a functional island, and a space designed for entertaining.

The challenge was adding modern function while making every update feel at home within the original architecture.

The new design brings together:

→ Central island with sink
→ Warm wood cabinetry + brass accents
→ Taj Mahal countertops
→ Mosaic backsplash
→ Distinctive lighting
→ Dedicated bar cabinetry
→ Custom mud bench
→ Reworked laundry room

Even the flooring was approached with the home’s history in mind, using an updated pattern and color that complement its original character.

The result gives the homeowner the functionality she needs while preserving what made this 1916 home special in the first place.

Would you preserve the character of an older home or take it in a more modern direction? 👇

The laundry room may be a hardworking space, but that doesn’t mean it has to feel like an afterthought. ✨

Good storage, plenty of workspace, and a layout that makes everyday tasks easier can completely change how this room functions.

And when the cabinetry and finishes receive the same attention as the rest of the home, even laundry day gets a better backdrop.

If you could change ONE thing about your laundry room, what would it be?

Can you spot where the original home ends and the addition begins? 👀

That’s exactly the point.

For this historic M-Streets home, the homeowners wanted to turn unused attic space into a playroom for their grandchildren while also expanding their primary closet.

But preserving the character of the older home was non-negotiable.

From hiding the new second-story roofline behind the home’s original ridge to matching trim profiles, antique brass hardware, window mullions and Craftsman-inspired details, every decision was made to help the new spaces feel like they had always been there.

Because with a historic renovation, sometimes the biggest compliment is:

“I would have never known that was new.”

Could you tell this was an addition?

1,900 square feet → 3,700 square feet. 🤯

Sometimes the right home is already yours, it just needs room to grow.

This Preston Hollow residence began as a 1,900-square-foot, one-story home. Through a major renovation and second-story addition, it became a 3,700-square-foot home with space for so much more:

→ Playroom
→ Study
→ Larger living room
→ Expanded kitchen
→ Butler’s pantry
→ Covered front + rear porches
→ Attached garage

Only a small portion of the original front façade and foundation remained.

The transformation is dramatic, but the goal was simple: create the home these clients wanted without giving up the property they already loved.

If you doubled your home’s square footage, what room would you add first?

Who says a timeless kitchen has to be neutral? 💙

This Lakewood homeowner is an artist, and she wanted her kitchen to reflect her personality rather than simply play it safe.

Rich blue cabinetry became the foundation for the design, paired with brass hardware, a custom vent hood, and a layout that works as beautifully as it looks.

The result feels distinctive and personal without sacrificing longevity.

That’s the advantage of designing around the homeowner rather than a trend. When colors, materials, and details are thoughtfully selected, a kitchen can have plenty of personality and still feel at home for years to come.

Would you commit to colorful cabinetry, or are you forever team neutral?

Remove a walk-in pantry to make a kitchen more functional? In this Lakewood home, that’s exactly what made sense. 👀

The oversized, enclosed pantry was making the kitchen feel dark, cramped, and disconnected from the surrounding spaces.

By removing the walls, we were able to replace it with a custom built-in breakfast nook, uncover an existing window, and add two more windows that fill the kitchen with natural light.

And the homeowners didn’t have to give up pantry storage to get it.

Full-height cabinetry now provides dedicated storage, while the reconfigured laundry room is tucked neatly behind doors instead of sitting directly in the path from the garage.

It’s a great example of how rethinking the space you already have can sometimes make a bigger difference than simply adding more of it.

Would you trade a walk-in pantry for this breakfast nook?

The best room in the house might not technically be inside. 🌿

These Dallas homeowners wanted their traditional home to feel brighter, more connected, and better suited to the way they live every day.

A new screened porch became an important part of that transformation, giving them a comfortable place to enjoy fresh air and garden views while maintaining a natural connection to the interior living spaces.

The renovation extended throughout the home. We reworked the laundry room, remodeled three bathrooms, updated the fireplace and staircase, incorporated a home gym, and selected finishes that create a more cohesive feel from one space to the next.

The result shows what can happen when you look beyond individual rooms and consider how the entire home can work better together.

Would a screened porch make your dream-home wishlist?

What takes a bathroom from simply looking good to feeling truly custom? ✨

It’s how every decision works together.

Storage designed around what you actually need. Lighting planned for different times of day. Tile, fixtures, and finishes selected to complement one another. And a layout that makes the room easier to use every day.

A custom bathroom isn’t defined by any one feature. It’s the result of thoughtful choices that make the entire space feel like it was designed specifically for you.

What would make the biggest difference in your bathroom: better storage, better lighting, a larger shower, or something else? 🛁

Expensive finishes can’t fix a bad floor plan. 👀

This Highland Park home had already been renovated once, but the spaces still weren’t working well for the homeowner.

Rather than simply updating the finishes again, we looked at how she actually used each space. Better storage, more intentional layouts, improved lighting, and thoughtful details became the foundation for the design.

The result is a home that works better from room to room, with custom storage, detailed millwork, distinctive lighting, wallpaper, and finishes that reflect the homeowner’s personal style.

Beautiful finishes matter. But they’re even better when the space underneath them is designed around the way you live.

What’s one space in your home that looks fine, but just doesn’t function well?
