🐝 Our volunteers have been busy participating in the Great Southeast Pollinator Census!

By observing a flowering plant for 15 minutes and recording each pollinator visit, our volunteers are contributing valuable community-science data. These counts help researchers understand which pollinators are active in our area, the flowers they visit, and how pollinator populations may be changing over time.

Pollinators—including bees, butterflies, moths, flies, wasps, and beetles—are essential to healthy ecosystems, flowering plants, and many of the foods we eat. We are proud of our volunteers for giving their time to support pollinator research, conservation, and education! 🌻🦋

🌸 “Orchids are not Difficult, Just Misunderstood!” 🌸

Please join the NC State Extension Master Gardener℠ volunteers of Gaston County for a presentation by Linda Thorne, owner of Seagrove Orchids in Seagrove, NC. Linda has the title of premier orchid grower in North Carolina. She is an American Orchid Society judge and past national assistant trainer for the American Orchid Society. She is also a former American Orchid Society trustee.

Linda loves orchids and is passionate about explaining how special orchids truly are and helping others learn about orchid care. She will share her secrets for growing thriving orchids that bloom.

🌼 Orchids will be available for purchase at the meeting!
🌱 Potting medium, fertilizer, and orchid pots will also be available.
