Southern Botanical

Our “Give Thanks & Give Back” core value was on full display at the 2026 Texas Chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture (ISAT) conference in Waco.

Southern Botanical’s Tree Care team attended the conference, where Lanier Tyler and Sophie Malis helped run the silent auction, raising more than $5,000 to support college students involved in ISA.

The auction featured everything from handmade wood pieces and jewelry to vintage tree care books, Austin Live Oak Festival posters, and tree care tools and equipment. Every item helped support the next generation of arborists and tree care professionals.

We’re proud of Lanier, Sophie, and everyone who contributed to making the auction a success.

This North Dallas residence has been under Southern Botanical’s care since 2020, evolving from a garden that relied heavily on seasonal perennials into a layered, year-round landscape with evergreen structure, seasonal color, and carefully maintained detail throughout.

Our team continues to build on the original vision rather than simply maintain it. Even the seasonal details get the same level of attention, including a 2025 Halloween display featuring more than 3,300 hand-placed pumpkins!

That ongoing attention to the landscape, and to the client’s vision, earned this residential landscape a Gold Award of Excellence from the National Association of Landscape Professionals (NALP).

From installation day to closing day, our crews keep his landscape looking picture-perfect. 🤠

Big Tex Circle is one of the most-photographed landscapes in Texas. Visitors from around the world stop here for a photo during the State Fair of Texas, which welcomes millions each year. Southern Botanical's team cares for it year-round, and it’s now entering its 4th growing season under our care.

Big Tex Circle was designed by our in-house designer Keith, and we partner with for each color change.

Last chance to see our work at the State Fair of Texas: the fair closes this weekend on Sunday, October 18. 🎡

A few pumpkins here, a little color there, and all the details that make fall feel warmer and more festive. 🎃🍂

Our teams have been busy layering gourds, rich autumn hues, and seasonal textures to create displays that bring a little fall charm to each space.

🎉 Big news from our Tree Care team.

Our own Kenney Shook was recently named President of the Texas Chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture (ISAT).

Kenney brings more than 45 years of tree care expertise to the role and has been an active ISAT member for 10 years. He currently serves on the board of directors and chairs the Student and Education committees.

Kenney's involvement keeps him connected to the latest research, education, and best practices in arboriculture, bringing that knowledge back to Southern Botanical's tree care team.

We're proud to see Kenney recognized as a leader in Texas arboriculture! 🌳

Big Tex Circle is one of the most recognizable landscapes in Texas, and our Dallas Commercial team gets to care for it year-round. 🌿

Designed by Enhancement Manager, Keith, the landscape includes 500+ Elaeagnus and dwarf yaupon hollies, 400+ Mystic Salvia, and nearly 3,700 seasonal color plants with each refresh.

This iconic landscape is now entering its fourth year of growth under Southern Botanical’s care.

Our team recently got to see the finished landscape during a day at the State Fair of Texas. ✨🎡

Have you seen our work at the fair yet?

We had the opportunity to help prepare the gardens for Autumn at the Arboretum, one of Dallas’ most anticipated fall events. 🍂🎃

Our crews worked throughout the grounds, mowing, edging, planting, refreshing beds, and helping get the landscape ready for the season. The finished grounds are polished and colorful, but there’s a lot of work behind the scenes to get them there.

Another reason to feel good about the team behind your trees. 🌳

Southern Botanical's Tree Care team has renewed its TCIA Accreditation, a company-level credential that recognizes established standards for safety, training, insurance, customer service, and professional conduct. Only a small share of tree care companies nationwide hold the accreditation, and it must be renewed every three years.

We're proud to have earned this accreditation again, and proud of the people who put those standards into practice every day.
