Everyone say Howdy, R***r!

R***r Cote, one of several RO interns from Texas A&M University, spent his summer internship with our San Antonio team at Frio Regional Hospital, building a new medical office building and renovating the ER. He got to learn our Three-Phase Inspection: review the plan before work starts, check the first installation to set the standard, then keep checking as it goes.

On a healthcare job, that's critical to how we own the outcome and get things done the right way.

Our interns are heading back to school, but we're still sharing what they picked up in the field!

A coordination problem doesn't disappear because no one mentions it.

This week's Field Notes comes from RO Superintendent Juan Garza, drawing on 21 years in the field. His case is simple: bad news doesn't age well. The earlier you name a problem, and bring a plan with it, the more options you keep on the table.

Read his take on tough conversations, trade partner trust, and keeping surprises rare in this week's Field Notes, our ongoing series of jobsite wisdom from across RO: https://r-o.com/field-notes-bad-news-doesnt-age-well/

Our Houston team traded hard hats for hairnets at Kids' Meals, Inc., assembling more than 200 sandwiches.

Since 2006, Kids' Meals has made and delivered free, healthy meals directly to the homes of food-insecure children in Houston.

Building a better Texas is bigger than our job sites. It's supporting the communities our people call home. Thank you to Kids' Meals for having us!

Twice a year, leadership hits the road for RO Connect, our company town hall, brought to each region so we can get in the room with as many of our people as possible, face to face.

Each stop blends companywide and regional updates: financials, project news, technology investments, and organizational moves. We welcome new hires, recognize promotions, and open the floor for Q&A. It's also a chance to pause and connect with each other.

RO is growing. We've welcomed more than 200 new people this year alone, and we're still family-owned and family-run. That's the balance we protect every time we get together.

Ready to join RO? Explore open positions here: r-o.com/careers . And maybe we'll see you in person at our next Connect in February!

Say hi to Ayden 👋

A Construction Science & Management student at Texas State University, he spent his summer on our San Antonio team working the Jefferson High School, SAISD High School renovation.

The 1930s San Antonio ISD campus is getting new HVAC, refurbished historic millwork, cleaned masonry, and around 500 new windows. Old and new coming together, and Ayden learned what it takes to renovate a building with this much history.

As we wrap up the summer, we want to extend a big thank you to all our interns for the work you put in this year.

The Young Women's Leadership Academy in San Antonio is ready for the new school year!

Working with San Antonio ISD and Kirksey | Architecture, our team delivered a new academic building, a new library, and new gym space as part of the district's 2020 Bond Program. When classes start, students will have more room to learn and compete than the campus has ever had.

Thank you to San Antonio ISD for trusting us with four projects in this bond program, and to the RO team and trade partners for your commitment.

Robot on the job site. 🤖

The HP SitePrint prints our layout straight onto the slab at full scale, guided by a robotic total station for millimeter accuracy. It marks walls, penetrations, and MEP points, and even prints text on the floor to guide the crews. At one of our advanced manufacturing projects in Dallas, it laid out about 85% of the interior walls in roughly 5.5 hours.

The slab here is the finished floor, so we had it mark only where the stud walls land. Clean surface, no chalk lines to scrub off later.

We've run the SitePrint on our sites before, and we'll keep working with HP to sharpen it, with one goal in mind: giving time back to our people.

It takes a lot of hands to reach the top of a 23-story building.

We topped out 250 Church in College Station (AKA Honcho), now the tallest building in the city. Getting here took months of trust and partnership between our team and every trade partner on site.

To mark it, we had a delicious lunch and handed out prizes, as a thanks for the people who made this milestone possible. We are excited for this next phase as we continue to bring Parallel vision to life alongside Rhode Partners. 👍

We couldn't let our interns leave without one final test. 📝

Call it a going-back-to-school special. We tested their knowledge individually, then had them take the same test again as a team. Sharing what you know beats going it alone. Stronger together, in every sense!

After swapping summer recaps and vlogs, we toured the RO Dallas office renovation with CEO Justin McAfee, who fielded some sharp questions from the group.

We finished the day at Top Golf, where the competition got real and the only photos anyone remembered to take were of the winners.

For several of them, this isn't goodbye. It's see you later. A number of our interns will be back full time after they graduate.

We are so grateful to each intern for their time and talents!

It has been a busy summer for our Waco team, and not just on the projects going up around town!

It started with a "Howdy Neighbor" cookout in the parking lot at the historic Roosevelt Tower, where RO Prime cooked and served lunch for the folks who share our corner of downtown. Good food, good conversation, and a chance to get to know the people who make Downtown Waco feel like home.

The team also invested in the next generation of Waco, with a gift to the Waco ISD Education Foundation scholarship fund and a sponsorship of the Waco ISD Leadership Retreat, where one of our own joined as a guest speaker. Later in the summer, they worked the course at the TriWaco Triathlon in Indian Spring Park, cheering on competitors including RO's own Nolan Reynolds!

We build in this community and we are glad to be part of it, too.
