At first glance, everything looked fine... until we discovered that the dryer vent and kitchen exhaust vent were both connected to the same roof vent. 😳

❌ That's a major installation mistake that can affect proper ventilation and isn't how these systems are designed to function.

✅ Our solution? We separated the two and installed dedicated roof vents for each system, allowing them to vent properly and safely.

🏠 Why are we cutting into the chimney brick?

This step allows us to properly install counter-flashing, one of the most important components for preventing water intrusion around a chimney.

Counter-flashing is embedded into the mortar joint and overlaps the base flashing, creating a secure, watertight seal that helps direct water away from your home.

Without properly installed counter-flashing, water can find its way behind the flashing and eventually lead to leaks, wood rot, and costly repairs.

While it may look unusual to see a roofer cutting into the brick, it's actually a sign that the job is being done correctly and with long-term protection in mind.
