Believe it or not, raccoon roof damage has kept us busy lately. In just the last three weeks, we’ve dealt with raccoon holes at four different homes: two in Preston Hollow, one in University Park, and one in Highland Park.

Apparently, even Dallas’ nicer neighborhoods aren’t safe from determined raccoons.

Roof replacement underway in Preston Hollow.

One unusual feature of this home is the existing copper gutter system. Copper is heavier, more durable, and considerably more expensive than standard aluminum gutters.
For this project, we are carefully removing the copper gutters before the roof tear-off, replacing the roof, and then reinstalling the same gutters.
If these had been standard aluminum gutters on the same property, we likely would have replaced them during the roofing project instead.

Details like this are why every roof should be evaluated individually rather than treated as a standard replacement.

Three leaking dormers on a Highland Park home near SMU. The solution didn't require replacing the front roof.

During demolition, we found the original flashing had been left in place through previous roof replacements. We rebuilt all six dormer sidewalls with new OSB wall sheathing, waterproofing, step flashing, James Hardie siding, trim and paint.

The homeowner had been told the existing shingles were discontinued and that a large section of the roof needed replacement. We located matching TAMKO Heritage Oxford Grey shingles and completed the repairs without replacing the rest of the front roof.

A more involved repair around the dormers, but considerably less unnecessary roofing work.

Replacing another roof in Casa View with Owens Corning Duration Storm Class 4 impact-resistant shingles.

Class 4 shingles provide added impact resistance for North Texas weather while giving the home a clean, dimensional look.

Much needed. So dry for so long. 67 days straight no rain DFW. Most 100 degree days in September.

JUST WHAT WE NEEDED! 3-Day doppler rainfall estimates show all of N TX received SIGNIFICANT rainfall. Totals since the middle of last week range from about 1.5" on the low end to as much as 8" on the high end.

We recently replaced an aging roof on a home in Dallas 75214 near University Boulevard, between Skillman and Abrams.
We had worked on the property previously, and when replacement made more sense than additional repairs, the homeowners selected Owens Corning Duration Storm Class 4 shingles in Driftwood.

During tear-off, we found several localized areas of deteriorated decking that needed replacement. A small low-slope section also required a separate self-adhered modified-bitumen roofing system rather than shingles.

Roofing additions can be more complicated than they look.

We recently returned to a home in Preston Hollow where we had previously installed a CertainTeed ClimateFlex Class 4 roof. The homeowner later added a large covered porch and additional space near the garage.

The lower-slope porch required full ice and water protection beneath the shingles, along with carefully fabricated flashing where the new roof tied into the existing home.

This project in Dallas 75225 is a good example of the larger roof repair and modification work we handle—not every roofing project requires a complete replacement.
