The beginning of Fall has arrived! 🧣🍂

Fall color arrives at Reverchon Park every year in Dallas. Mature sycamores line the walkway to the ballfield, offering shade through the summer and a canopy of gold and rust as the season turns.

Designing with trees and planting that change through the year is part of creating outdoor spaces people want to return to, season after season.

Happy International PARK(ing) Day! 🅿️➡️🌳

Today's a reminder that the best use of space isn't always a parking spot — so we're highlighting a few projects that chose people over pavement.

KSS Park, Downtown Richardson — Leftover land from a street realignment became "Rising Star Corner" and "Fountain Corner," two plazas anchored by public art, shaded seating, and a water feature that quiets downtown traffic instead of adding to it.

Curiosity Garden, South Garland Library — An underused parking lot in front of a former grocery store is now a pocket park with a children's zone, performance space, and room for food trucks — connecting the library directly to its neighborhood instead of a sea of asphalt.

Two different scales, one shared idea: design for the people who'll actually use the space.

At the grand opening of Streams and Valleys Plaza today 🌿

This project reimagines the western approach to Fort Worth's Phyllis J. Tilley Memorial Bridge along the Trinity River corridor. New pathways connect seamlessly to the bridge, a tree grove offers shaded seating overlooking a pollinator garden, and a grassy circular berm aligns with the bridge's centerline. Electrical upgrades throughout mean this space is ready to host events and programming for the community for years to come.

Proud to see this vision for the Trinity River corridor come to life alongside Streams and Valleys, Inc. and Fort Worth Parks.

Growth brings new residents, new businesses, and new opportunities—but it also raises an important question: how do you allow a community to evolve without losing what makes it feel like home?

Projects in communities like Seguin remind us that context matters. Understanding local history, existing neighborhoods, downtowns and the needs of the people who already call a place home can help shape growth that feels connected rather than imposed.

The best communities evolve by building on what already makes them unique.

We are excited to share one such project, still in early design, we are starting to develop the details of Nolte Hotel. A mixed use development that will bring more retail, restaurants while providing high-end accommodations for visitors, family and friends.

The details that never make the rendering are usually the ones that matter most (yes, we really do sweat these little details)!

Across Bachman Recreation Center, Churchill Recreation Center, and Fire Station 6, accessibility shaped almost everything here: sink heights and knee clearance, roll-in showers with grab bars and handheld sprayers, hi-lo drinking fountains built for different reaches and different bodies. Small measurements and details make real impact on accessibility for all people.

SM City Manokan Country reimagines a beloved Bacolod destination by celebrating the traditions that make it unique. 🐔

Inspired by the city's outdoor hawker stalls and iconic chicken inasal, the design blends modern industrial architecture with vernacular Filipino touches: arched timber beams, native vines, layered shading, and water features that bring the open-air dining experience to life.

And of course — no Manokan Country is complete without the big chicken. A larger-than-life, unapologetically kitsch landmark. Rather than viewing kitsch as tacky, Philippine pop culture embraces it as a celebration of community, resilience, and sensory overload.

More than a food destination — it's a place built for culture, community, and gathering together.

Across retail, mixed-use, office, and transit-oriented projects, we design places that are active, connected, and responsive to their surroundings.

From layered public spaces and shaded pedestrian corridors to integrated parking, retail, and transit connections, we partner with SM to create a cohesive experience for the community.

Happy Women's Equality Day! 👷🏼‍♀️📐

We’re proud to be a firm where women lead and shape our work across every corner of the studio—from architecture and interior design to administration, project leadership, principal, and director roles. Their contributions strengthen our projects, challenge our thinking, and help shape the culture of our practice.

Today (and every day), we celebrate the women of DSGN who bring vision, expertise, and heart to everything we build.

Day vs. Night Views 🌓

A building can feel like an entirely different place depending on when you experience it.

Morning light changes the atmosphere. Afternoon shade influences where people gather. And after the sun goes down, lighting can transform the way a space feels, moves, and comes to life.

Good design considers more than how a building looks in a single photograph. It considers how people will experience it throughout the day.

Highlighting our adaptive re-use project: The LOFT Pickleball and Tennis Center 🎾

Originally built in 1963 as a Chevrolet dealership, the building has taken on several lives over the decades. Now, in the heart of North Oak Cliff, it is being reimagined as a destination for pickleball and tennis, with indoor courts, rooftop tennis, a café, pro shop, childcare, and locker rooms.

The design preserves the building's defining mid-century industrial character, including its original precast concrete structure, while introducing new glazing, infill, lighting, and building systems to support its next chapter.
