Rough jobsite snapshots!
Performing an initial Aim&Adjust session on a project is always very exciting! Seeing decades of work come together for an impactful sensory experience is thrilling (and fun too)! Years of visioning, conceptualizing, consensus-building, sponsorships, modeling, mockups, installation, punch lists and commissioning coming together with the many parties that infuse life into a project that is nearing the finish line is almost indescribable. “Inconceivable” one might have said only a few years ago! 😉. We were even visited by an owl only 20’ above as we wrapped up!

We were surprised and delighted to open our November issue of LD+A magazine and see that the COVER story is our project for Dolese Bros. for which we won 2 Illumination Awards! Link to the article: https://read.nxtbook.com/sage/lda/november_2024/a_gem_shines_through.html
We are honored and humbled to be in the company of amazing lighting design firms represented in this publication. LD+A (Lighting Design + Application) magazine is the magazine of the IES - Illumination Engineering Society, a professional organization for lighting designers, engineers, manufacturers, agents and other lighting-passionate people.

While I haven't been to the Meow Wolf exhibit referenced in this article, I just went to the one at Grapevine Mills mall in Grapevine, TX and it blew me away! There is really no way to put into words what the experience even is so I won't try! You just have to see it for yourself. Go with a group of friends or family so that you can bounce ideas off one another as you move through the space and react to the amazing and clever creativity and art that you encounter...oh...and the LIGHTING! Incredible! Tickets are $40. Once you enter on your timed-ticket, you can stay inside as long as you like.

Experimental art collective Meow Wolf aims to turn Los Angeles' most ritualistic experience — that is, the act of going to the movies — into an interactive, art-driven wonderland.

LuM is honored to have won an IES Illumination Design Award for INTERIOR Lighting Design for "The Gem" at Dolese Bros. Headquarters building in Oklahoma City! We had a great design team partner, Butzer Architects and Urbanism and, of course, no award would be possible without the trust, vision and investment of the owner, Dolese Bros. Co.

Remember that good lighting enhances the environment. It’s bird migration time. Lights out if you’re in the Central Flyway (generally the Great Plains states) from 11:00pm (or earlier) until 6:00am every night from now until June 15th. Most birds migrate at night and feed during the day. Nighttime illumination can be disorienting and cause birds to veer off course causing delays in nesting and raising young.

Did you know that Texas is a prime part of the Central Flyway? During spring migration, thousands of birds return north from the warmer winter climates to our south. Not only are birds returning, but we’re also seeing Texas wintering birds flock further north as well. As the weather is changing, the birds will start to move. Almost 400 bird species use the Central Flyway, and the sheer number of species using it makes it extremely important. What can you do to help migrating birds? Go Lights Out every night from 11PM to 6AM. And... prep for these birds to fill our sky by offering up a good meal and water to help them make the journey!
