What is DEAD MOLD?

Dead mold is deactivated or dormant mold. In other words, mold that is not actively growing.

Active mold will appear moist. Dead mold has a powdery, flaky appearance.

Dead mold can still cause allergic reactions in some people, so it is not enough to simply kill the mold, it must also be removed. It causes many of the same symptoms and should be treated with the same urgency as active mold.

Why NOT to use a DIY home mold testing kit...

Mold samples are sometimes incorrect with both false positive and false negative results which can sometimes cause unnecessary fear or a false sense of security when it comes to mold and/or air quality . The most critical process of mold testing is the actual visual mold inspection. This inspection requires specialized instruments such as moisture meters, hygrometers, and infrared cameras to accurately find water sources, food sources, and other factors that may not be apparent to the untrained eye.

The EPA states: “Sampling for mold should be conducted by professionals who have specific experience in designing mold sampling protocols, sampling methods and interpreting results. Sample analysis should follow analytical methods recommended by the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA), the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH), or other professional organizations."

ANALYSIS AND REPORTING...

Once we send off our mold samples we will normally receive lab results in 24 to 48 hours. Our lab reports come directly from one of the leading commercial mold testing laboratories in the United States. The lab results we receive provide us with the type of mold(s), the levels, the normal levels, and the glossary of mold.
ACR then takes those results (if positive) and builds a professional mold remediation protocol. Once we provide you with our protocol, you can then hire a professional contractor to begin the remediation process.

Once the remediation process is completed ACR will then collect and send off the final air samples. The results should show mold levels decreased to an acceptable level. Lab results from post testing is the proof you need to be assured that the mold has been removed properly and completely.
