āBut I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;ā -Matthew 5:44 (KJV)
Sometimes life just isnāt fair, and business is no different. Sometimes youāll be outbid by the bigger company, the cheaper company, or simply someone who was a better fit for that job. But someone elseās success doesnāt have to become our resentment. Woodie Water Works started as an idea we talked about around the house, and almost a year later, weāre slowly watching it grow into a name people recognize and trust in Paulding County. Weāre incredibly grateful for that, but we never want growing our name to require tearing down someone elseās.
There is room to compete with integrity and still root for the people around us. Supporting another business might mean liking and sharing their page, showing up at a community event, using their services, recommending them to someone else, or simply being genuinely happy when they win. Matthew 5:44 reminds us that our character shouldnāt depend on how other people treat us. As Christians, we are called to love, bless, do good, and pray even when it isnāt returned.
We canāt control who gets the next job, who grows faster, or whose name gets called first. We can control the kind of people we become while building what has been placed in our hands. At Woodie Water Works, we want to build something worth being proud of, not only because of the work we do, but because of the way we treat people along the way. There is enough room to build our own table without pulling the chair out from underneath someone else.
