Yesterday the team at Davis Doors & More, LLC responded to a commercial building where a hollow metal door was completely stuck shut.

Over time the structure had shifted, which caused the door frame to go out of square. That shift pinched the door so tightly that tenants had to kick the door just to get it open.

🔧 Our Solution:
The door was originally hung on a mortise hinge, which requires the frame to be square to operate properly.

To correct the issue without replacing the entire frame, our technicians:

✔ Removed the existing mortise hinge
✔ Installed a full surface geared hinge
✔ Adjusted the door for smooth operation in the shifted opening

Now the door swings freely and operates safely, even with the frame out of square.
