For our tip this week we had to share this Tree Tip! We see this all the time, if you have any questions please reach out.

🌱 Just like you, trees need to breathe! Don’t suffocate your tree with a mulch volcano. Improper mulching keeps water trapped against the trunk and creates an environment ripe for fungi and bacteria, which can cause your tree to die.
🌳 As Texas trees have seen multiple stress events over the past few years, applying a thin layer of mulch is one of the best and most affordable maintenance practices to help them out.
💧 When applied and maintained correctly, mulch can conserve water, regulate soil temperatures, reduce competition from other plants and improve soil health.
🌲 Use an organic mulch and apply a thin layer (no more than 3 inches) underneath the canopy. Be careful not to let the mulch touch the base of the trunk. Avoid over-mulching and piling mulch against the trunk.

Your lawn’s health starts with how high you mow. Cutting your grass too short can weaken the plant, expose soil to w**ds, and block vital photosynthesis—the process that converts sunlight into energy for healthy growth.

☀️ Why it matters:
When grass blades get enough sunlight, they produce sugars that feed the roots, promote thicker turf, and help your lawn resist heat, drought, and disease.

Recommended Mowing Heights for Warm-Season Grasses:
• St. Augustine: 2.5 to 4 inches
• Bermuda: 1 to 2 inches
• Zoysia: 1.5 to 2.5 inches

Turf Tip Tuesday!! Couldn’t wait until tomorrow!
With all the rain we’ve had lately, it’s the perfect time to pause your sprinkler system and let Mother Nature take the lead. Overwatering can create standing water, which suffocates your grass by cutting off oxygen to the roots and promoting disease.

Pro Tip:
If you notice puddles in your yard that linger for more than 24 hours, you may have a drainage issue. Compacted soil or low spots might be to blame—and that’s where aeration and top dressing come in.

Keep your lawn healthy by letting it dry out between rainfalls and watching for areas that stay too soggy. Your grass (and your water bill) will thank you!
