The 2026 Frontier County Fair Turtle Race was held Friday, July 31 in the shade just outside of the Stockville Fairground grandstands at 6:00 pm. Anticipation was high prior to the race as a large crowd gathered to see the terrapin athleticism. Despite low turtle sightings across Frontier County this year, racing numbers were up and 32 turtle handlers, ages Pre-K through high school, showed up to compete for a medal.

Racers were divided into racing categories based on the grade they are going into this fall. The winners of each age category received a medal on a red, white, and blue lanyard
sponsored by Tyron Lenz Construction of Curtis.

Results are as follows:
Pre-K winning turtle racer: Tripp Swopes
Kinder-1st winning turtle racer: Walter Banzhaf
2nd-3rd winning turtle racer: Loredo Schultz
4th-5th winning turtle racer: Haisley Ehlers
6th-8th winning turtle racer: Roper Rundback
9th-12th winning turtle racer: Aspen Closman

The champion turtle from each race was then placed in a championship race. The fastest turtle of the Frontier County Turtle Race was raced by Roper Rundback, who received a golden turtle trophy sponsored by Tyron Lenz Construction.
