We want to make things to perform better, to look better, and to awaken their environment. And so we give care to our clients’ goals and investments and endeavor to balance them with our pursuit to enhance the human experience and our communities. We are an award-winning, 30-person practice specializing in cultural institutions, civic projects, and purposeful architectural works that touch both the private and public spirit.

SPF:a has been named to Forbes’ inaugural 2026 lists for America’s Top Residential Architects and America’s Best-in-State Residential Architects!

The recognition highlights exceptional architectural design, technical mastery, and thoughtful exploration of how structure, material, light, and site shape homes that are deeply responsive to their inhabitants.

“To be recognized by Forbes among architects whose work is helping shape residential design across the country is an incredible honor,” said Zoltan E. Pali, FAIA, co-founder and design principal of SPF:a. “A home is the most personal kind of architecture. It must respond to its site and climate, but it must also create a sense of comfort, calm and belonging for the people who live there. Across our residential work, we strive to find that balance through clarity of structure, intentional use of materials and spaces that remain relevant and resilient over time.”

Thank you Forbes for the recognition of our work.

Brosmith Residence pairs teak plywood with off-white plaster, creating a warmer, more textural exterior. The wood was inspired by the wood-paneled houses of Westchester County, a reference that helped shape the character of the home.
