💧 What is an INRB Septic System?

An In-Ground Nitrogen-Reducing Biofilter (INRB) is an advanced septic system designed to help protect Florida's springs, rivers, and groundwater.

Instead of sending wastewater directly to the drainfield like a conventional system, an INRB uses specially designed media beneath the drainfield where naturally occurring bacteria convert nitrogen into harmless nitrogen gas before it reaches the groundwater. INRB systems are designed to achieve at least 65% nitrogen reduction.

🌿 Better for the environment.
💧 Better for Florida's water.
🏡 Built to meet enhanced nitrogen-reduction requirements in many sensitive areas.

Do You Need a Permit for Septic Work in Florida

If you rely on a septic system for wastewater treatment, you’ll need septic work performed on your property from time to time. From new septic tank installation to septic pumping or septic tank riser repair, these services are essential to keep everything working smoothly. But the common question is: do you need to acquire a permit for septic work in Florida? The short answer is YES. Septic system owners are required to obtain a permit for tasks such as septic pumping, repairs, installations, and routine maintenance. Permits are issues by the Florida Department of Health (DOH) at the county level to ensure compliance with safety and environment regulations.

🤔 Did You Know?

Your commercial septic tank naturally separates waste into three layers:
🫧 Scum floats on top
💧 Liquid stays in the middle
⬇️ Solids settle on the bottom

Regular pumping removes the buildup before it causes problems.

Preventive maintenance is always less expensive than emergency repairs.

How Does a Septic System Work? A Homeowner’s Guide

Most homeowners understand how city sewer systems work: wastewater leaves the house, travels through underground pipes, and the municipality handles the rest (so long as you’re paying your monthly sewer bills). But nearly one in five American homes does not connect to a centralized sewer system. Instead, they rely on an onsite wastewater treatment system – most commonly, a conventional septic system. If your property has a septic system installation, you don’t pay a monthly sewer bill. However, you do carry full responsibility for maintaining and protecting that system. The good news? A conventional septic system is simple, durable, and highly effective when properly maintained.
