This Father's Day, we're celebrating all of the dads, grandpas, stepdads, and father figures who lead with love, strength, patience, and dedication.

At TL Decks, Father's Day holds a special meaning because we're fortunate to see those qualities every day in our owner, Alex.

While many people know Alex as the person behind TL Decks, his most important title is Dad.

Whether he's spending time with Eli, Maeve, and Lennon, cheering them on, teaching life lessons, or creating special family memories, the same care and commitment he brings to his family is reflected in everything he does. His children are his greatest pride, and anyone who knows him can see how much he loves being their father.

As we celebrate Father's Day, we're reminded that some of life's best moments happen right at home—gathering with family, sharing meals, telling stories, and enjoying time together outdoors.

As the backbone of TL Decks, Alex gives every ounce of himself to this company, its team, and the clients who trust us with their homes. His dedication, work ethic, and commitment to doing things the right way are woven into every project we build and every relationship we create.

What many people don't see are the countless hours, tough decisions, early mornings, late nights, and sacrifices that happen behind the scenes to keep everything moving forward. Alex carries those responsibilities with determination, integrity, and a genuine passion for serving others.

But beyond being a business owner, Alex's greatest role is being a dad. Watching him love, support, and lead his three beautiful children is a reminder that the same heart he pours into TL Decks is the heart he pours into his family every day.

The answer is... B. Missing or improperly installed flashing! 🎉

Flashing is the material installed where a deck attaches to a home. Its job is to keep water from sneaking behind the ledger board and causing rot, mold, and structural damage.

The tricky part? You usually can't see a flashing problem until significant damage has already occurred.

That's one reason professional installation and regular inspections are so important. A deck can look perfectly fine from above while hidden issues are developing underneath.

🔙 Throwback Thursday 🔙

Today we're taking a trip back to one of our favorite lakeside transformations.

This project had it all—beautiful views, multiple levels, custom stairs, and plenty of space to enjoy life outdoors. From morning coffee overlooking the water to evenings spent with family and friends, this deck was designed to make the most of every moment outside.

One of our favorite parts of looking back at projects like this is remembering that every deck tells a different story. No two families use their outdoor space the same way, which is why every project we build is customized to fit the people who call it home.
