A little upgrade at my own home! 🔨🚪

Just installed this Mastercraft premium exterior door with a solid composite door and frame, Low-E glass, and a lifetime warranty. It was an investment, but I feel it was worth the extra money.

Finished it off with a Schlage Latitude handle set and a new myQ video smart deadbolt featuring facial recognition, fingerprint access, and a built-in camera.

As a carpenter, I appreciate quality materials and the details that bring an installation together—even when the project is at my own house!

Putting the finishing touches on this deck transformation today! 👷‍♂️🔨

This rebuild features Trex Wh***ey Barrel composite decking, picture-frame borders, and Trex Select railings for a clean, finished look.

The work beneath the surface matters just as much. We rebuilt the framing, protected the joists, and installed the crucial double blocking beneath the Trex Wizard surface-mount railing posts to provide solid support and secure anchoring. 🪚📐

We’re wrapping up the final details today—stay tuned for a video of the completed project!

As we begin wrapping up our exterior projects for the season, we’re getting started on this complete front porch remodel!

We’ll be rebuilding the porch in the same original style and layout while replacing all of the deteriorated materials. We’ll also be eliminating the existing concrete step and creating a larger pyramid-style bottom step for a cleaner appearance and a safer, more comfortable entrance.

Stay tuned to see this transformation come together!

Another composite deck transformation is underway!

These photos show the original 14’ × 14’ treated deck, along with our progress through approximately 70% completion.

We repaired and reinforced the existing framing, completely rebuilt the steps, and installed all the proper double-block framing needed to support the surface-mounted steel railing posts and picture-frame borders.

This deck is being upgraded with:

• Trex composite decking in Wh***ey Barrel
• Trex composite railing
• Picture-frame borders around the main deck field and steps
• Proper double-block framing for the steel post mounts and picture framing

This Four Seasons room is coming together beautifully! We completely gutted and opened up the space, removed the existing framed-down ceiling to expose the full vaulted ceiling, installed new shiplap, and added Philips Hue recessed lighting throughout.

These photos show the new luxury vinyl plank flooring installation, which is really bringing the entire transformation together. We’ll be installing the final trim around the windows this week to complete the project, and we couldn’t be happier with how it’s turning out!

Making great progress on this custom handicap-accessible walking ramp in Hebron, Indiana, for our repeat customers, the Obradovich family!

We removed the original steps and built a new landing and pressure-treated ramp that follows the existing sidewalk. The framing, blocking, and railing posts are now installed. Next up, we’ll be installing the decking, handrails, and spindles to finish everything off.

We truly appreciate the Obradovich family trusting Durham Custom Construction with another project at their home. Stay tuned for the finished results! 🔨

🔥 Another Fiberon Concordia Horizon Ipe Transformation by Durham Custom Construction! 🔥

We recently completed the main portion of this custom 12’ x 10’ composite deck built completely from the ground up, and we couldn’t be happier with how this project has come together.

We started by removing the existing gazebo and wooden privacy wall, then constructed an entirely new deck designed around premium materials, low-maintenance performance, and custom finish details.

For this project, we used Fiberon Concordia Horizon in Ipe — one of Fiberon’s premium composite decking collections. The rich variation, realistic wood grain, and dramatic streaking give Horizon Ipe the appearance of exotic hardwood while providing the durability and low maintenance homeowners expect from premium composite decking.

Some of the custom details include:

🔹 Fiberon Concordia Horizon Ipe decking
🔹 Custom picture-frame deck border
🔹 Custom picture-framed two-step staircase
🔹 Matching Horizon Ipe fascia and stair risers
🔹 Indian Ebony composite L-channel corner accents on the fascia and stair risers, creating a clean contrast and finished edge
🔹 HOFT 44” black aluminum privacy-wall system
🔹 Matching Horizon Ipe composite boards incorporated into the privacy wall
🔹 Black accents carried throughout the project to tie the entire design together
🔹 Black aluminum handrails being installed next week to put the finishing touch on the entire project

The combination of the warm Ipe tones with the black accents really brought this design together. The privacy wall, fascia, stairs, decking, and upcoming aluminum railings were all planned to complement one another and create one cohesive outdoor living space.

As a Fiberon Certified Installer, Durham Custom Construction specializes in premium composite decking and custom outdoor living projects throughout Northwest Indiana. We’re proud to have grown into one of the area’s leading Fiberon decking contractors, with extensive hands-on experience installing their premium product lines.

Whether you’re considering a new composite deck, deck resurfacing, custom privacy walls, aluminum railings, stairs, lighting, pergolas, or a complete outdoor living transformation, Durham Custom Construction can take your project from concept to completion.
