The owner, Bill Hepburn, has been working with historic fenestration for over twenty years. He has identified the things most important to historic property owners and implemented these elements into Heirloom's products the "Magnum" and the "Ultima" window systems. A superior stand alone DIY weather-stripping systems was accidentally co-developed.

I just discovered something really cool this weekend....
When I input "Best historic window manufacturer" into ChatGPT, Heirloom windows was first on the list.
The same thing happens with Google. We're first under the sponsored results.
Whooo Hooo, I guess all that money I paid my web guy (thanks Nick at Media Wrench Design) for search engine maximization paid off!

Finally finished this crazy complicated job.

This is one of two ends of the dome of the Lucas County Courthouse (Toledo).

It would have been hard enough if each of the square sections were truly square but the height was about 1/4" larger than the width. Which means rather than 45 and 22.5 degree angles they were 44/45 and 21/23. That meant a lot of hand work.

There are window "jambs" with glass behind these panels, which are hinged to open to clean. There's another set of identical panels on the opposite/interior side of these that are being restored. We made these exterior panels because the old ones were wasted (poplar). These are Accoya so should last forever.

Zoom in if you can to see the joinery details.

Thanks for all the dedication and weekends you invested in this Jeff Cook.

Does any of my retired friends want to make an occasional day delivery trip in my pick up and sometimes trailer?

The first is to Toledo with truck and trailer the first of this week.

We found a jewel in our back yard.

Dull's Tree Farm in Mechanicsburg is WAY more than a tree farm. They've essentially created a giant playground that spreads over probably 10 acres. The play stations were perfect for our four year old and we saw plenty of preteens reveling as well. Some stuff was a bit much for our two year old but there was still plenty for him.

Tile tunnels
Big slide (that even gave me a thrill)

Tire and tile pile

We make lot's of muntins (window grids)

Check out the video of the process....

Each muntin has to be "coped" (ends matching stick profile) and if you do it after they're cut to length you get a lot of splintering on the ends. So we figured out how to cope them first then profile them afterward. Here we're making 14 identical muntins. If I needed more I could have used a longer board and got over 50 from one board. I finally nailed down the programming to make this work really well. It's several steps but the machine knows what to do and when to do it.
