One thing I’ve realized over the last couple years, being a contractor and honestly just being a person in general, is that you can’t make everyone happy.
In the past two years, we’ve had one bad review from a client. We completed the job, and at the time she was happy with it. We even added around 100 extra square feet to her dock, added a step-down, and took care of several other things that weren’t originally included. I could’ve easily billed another $6,000–$8,000 for the extra work, but I didn’t. Some of it I took upon myself to do because I thought it would make the finished project better, and other things she requested while we were already there, so we took care of them.
That’s just how I try to do business. I want people to be happy with what they paid for, and my goal is to build one of the best outdoor construction companies in South Louisiana.
She did have a couple issues afterward, and when we were made aware of them, we went back and addressed them. Apparently, some screws on the cable handrail need to be changed out, which we absolutely would have taken care of, but I never received a phone call about it.
At the end of the day, you can do extra work, go back to fix things, try to make everything right, and still not make everyone happy.
That’s part of being in business.
I’ll continue doing everything I can to take care of our clients, stand behind our work, learn from every job, and keep getting better.
We’ll keep on keeping on. 💪🏽
And Remember, help is on the way! 🆘
