When we made the decision to purchase our 21-acre property just outside of Covington we planned to build a barndominium for our dream home.
After weeks of research and after the design process had already begun, that planned changed. Instead, they settled on moving to a farmhouse style using Hardie Plank and Owens Corning shingles from Roofing Products and Building Supply Co. with a metal roof accent over the front porch and back patio for the cherry on top.

The Olde Mill’s reclaimed wood products are featured throughout The Coach House. We love The Olde Mill products and the way they accent the beauty of our home.
Custom and hand-crafted products include floating shelves in the kitchen, fireplace mantel and matching shelves in the living room, tabletop on the patio and three wood bathroom vanities.
Of all the amazing compliments the most have been around the incredible countertops on the island and throughout the kitchen. They are absolutely gorgeous and were provided by Tuscan Stone Imports another Trusted Contractor of The Coach House.
The Quartzite countertops are beautiful, easy to clean and low maintenance. The enormous island along with all the other countertops make this home ideal for having a party. Plenty of space for all that delicious Louisiana cuisine while everyone mixes and mingles enjoying a cocktail.

Dan & Beth Zimanski just became empty nesters and decided it was time to align their dreams and build a home that would enable them to live their life to the fullest. What means most to them is time spent with family and friends, so their focus is to create a home that provides a comfortable space for the entire extended family for week long visits during the holidays, having friends in for the weekend, and enhancing their day-to-day lifestyle, which includes both of them working more often from their home offices.
“The home and project were designed to incorporate all the things we love to do” says Dan Zimanski. With their children being in their 20’s, they are counting on their family growing in the coming years. Additionally, they have a very close extended family resulting in most holidays having 14+ people under one roof! So, they desire to have a place large enough for everyone to stay comfortably.
It started with the land and having a little slice of heaven in the country. Dan loves the outdoors and is passionate about training his Labrador retrievers that he hunts and competes with throughout the year. He plans to host other retrieving enthusiasts with training days at the property. Beth could envision living in the country as long as she was close to Covington. They purchased 21.3 acres of land near Barker’s Corner, which is only 15 minutes away from downtown Covington. Only 14 acres are cleared and the property now has three beautiful ponds totaling about 2 ½ acres of water for retriever training that will also be stocked with bass for fishing.
Beth wanted her dream kitchen and designed the home around how their family enjoys spending time. We love cooking, eating together, playing games, watching movies and spending time outdoors. All the spaces incorporate the ability to do that together as an entire family or break off if the kids want to watch a movie or play a game by themselves, the guys want to watch a game and the ladies want to enjoy each other’s company after a nice dinner.
The kitchen, dining and living room is a large open space. This will allow up to 16+ people to be comfortably seated to eat in the kitchen and dining room. A bunk room will allow sleeping quarters for up to 12 people. In addition to these two areas there will also be a man cave that will double as Dan’s office and that can be used when Dan hosts client team days and leadership retreats. Beth will have an office as she works from home most of the time. They also enjoy time around a fire and will have an indoor fireplace along with an outdoor fire pit on the large 20 X 30-foot covered patio overlooking the ponds. If it’s a beautiful night there will be choices to dine inside or out as well as where we want to gather and have fun for the evening.
Their vison is to have family and friends visit with a multitude of outdoor and indoor options to enjoy. Outside you can hunt, fish, train dogs, go on a nice walk, play a game of corn hole or relax by the fire after a nice meal on the grill and watch the game on the outdoor TV. Inside there will be several spaces to gather in large or small numbers to eat, play games, read a book or watch a movie.
The Zimanskis are excited about their dream home and will be sharing it with you as it is constructed. You can follow the building of the project on their page or by visiting the website. Additionally, they will be hosting two open houses once the project is completed.
