I am shouting from the rooftops about how proud I am of our fearless leader and my partner, Justin Valanti!

After 32 years in the tree industry, 15 years in Coventry, a major real estate purchase, two years of planning, and more than a month of construction, Arbortech Tree Inc. has officially found its permanent home.

What people see today is a finished property. What they don't see are the years of vision, uncertainty, long days, and determination that made it possible.

Through his courage and unwavering commitment, Justin has proven once again that milestones like this aren't achieved by luck—they're achieved by showing up every day, doing the work, and refusing to quit when challenges arise.

I'm incredibly proud of what he's built, not just for our company, but for our employees, customers, and community.

Congratulations, Justin. I can't wait to see what you do next. I am so proud to be on your team!

"A tree is only as strong as it's roots"...

This massive oak on our property looked fairly normal from the outside — full canopy, green leaves, no major storm damage. But when it finally failed, the reason became obvious immediately: severe root rot.

What’s left of the root system is pictured here… or more accurately, what wasn’t left of it.

In the tree world, root rot is often called the “silent killer” because structural decline can happen underground for years before a tree shows dramatic symptoms above ground. Mature oaks may still appear healthy while the root system quietly deteriorates beneath them.

Some subtle warning signs can include:
• fungal growth near the base
• thinning foliage in the upper canopy
• premature leaf drop
• deadwood
• changes around the root flare
• slight soil movement near the trunk

Thankfully, this tree was located deep in the woods and far from anything valuable. Had it been near a home, driveway, or play area, the outcome could have been much different.

Trees don’t always fail during storms. Sometimes they fail on the calmest days.

A good reminder of why regular inspections — especially for large mature trees near structures — truly matter.

Yesterday, we put on quite the show for our Columbia Lake friends. 🌲💪🏼
This job will definitely go down as one of the most thrilling in Arbortech history! Big equipment, tight, quarters, serious teamwork… We have never been so grateful for such an amazing crew. WOW, what a day.

A clip from our most recent newsletter...

👉 “What happens to the wood that gets taken away from my property?” We get this question all the time (twice just yesterday, actually).

Short answer: Nothing goes to waste.

Longer answer (because it’s more interesting than you’d think):

Once your tree work is complete, everything gets brought back to our log yard and sorted:

🔥 “The good stuff” – hardwood logs → processed into firewood
🪵 “The really good stuff” – premium logs → milled into lumber
🌲 Pine logs – shipped out → turned into boards
🌿 “The junk” wood – yes, even this → becomes mulch

We’ve spent years building systems to make sure everything gets used.

Now here’s the part most people don’t realize…

👉 It actually costs more to handle, transport, sort, and process all that material than it brings in. That’s why there’s a hauling fee tied to removal.

💡 Good news: If you’d like to keep usable wood on-site, we’re always happy to leave it—which can help reduce your overall project cost.

It feels good to be back in full swing this season 🙌
Keep us in mind for your next tree project—we’d love to hear from you!
