THE NATIONAL DEBT IS NOT A JOKE, IT IS A TICKING TIME BOMB: I was having lunch today at an old time general store near my job site in Tennessee. They had a communal table that sits about twelve. Pretty Cool! You eat with country folk strangers and try to solve world problems. My kind of place. One good old boy told me that he didn’t give a crap (edited) about the national debt because he believed that the 4 trillion national debt we had in 1992, adjusted with 2026 dollars, was about the same. YIKES! That is completely wrong. The truth: We sit at over 40 trillion dollars in debt. Our liabilities to Social Security, Medicaid and Medicare, and other programs is likely a staggering 100 trillion dollars. Even figuring in inflation, our buying power compared to 1992 is half. My trust is in Jesus Christ alone, but when the bill becomes due and when we are unable to pay - THE DEBT WILL DESTROY US ALL!

1805 TENNESSEE CABIN BUILD: WEEK 10 UPDATE! (pictured is Steven Moore, OMB me, and Jarin Bailey on a job a few years back). This week the chimney was rocked and we finished the front so builders can construct the front porch. Notice how we framed in the front doors with massive timbers with bark. We have now started the fourth side. The wedding is a little more than a month away - there is a lot to do, but I think we have a shot!

WEEK 9 WAS ALL ABOUT FORWARD TEAM PROGRESS: Team Old Man Bailey (me and two awesome workers - Joseph and Jonathan, not related) are within a week of finishing up the front! We used a ton of JB WELD two-part wood epoxy and many many loads of mud, bricks, and galvanized nails. The other sub-contractors framed in the lean-to, built a roof system, and framed in the chimney. It is going great but the wedding is just 40 days away - may God grant us skill, safety, and SPEED!

DON’T FORGET THAT WE SAVE 1800s BARNS! It is true that Bailey Construction Company has fully restored over 55 pioneer log homes over the past thirty years, but we have also saved over 25 historic barns during this same period. SCRIPTURE TELLS US TO TRY TO BE AT PEACE WITH ALL MEN BUT ALSO TELLS US THAT THE WORLD WILL HATE US AS IT HATED HIM. SO WHERE IS THE BALANCE? THERE IS NONE: Be bold and uncompromising as it concerns sharing the exclusive message of the gospel of Jesus Christ and most will either hate you or simply marginalize you as a fanatic. I am often marginalized by other Christians when I talk about abortion, God judging nations with a curse because Satan has convinced most Christian women, and men, to limit their family size, or when I bring up the topic of Christians allowing pagan cultural indoctrination educational institutions to brainwash their own kids! And I am just getting started! I truly do love my fellow man and I do love my church family, but love and being at peace requires me to persuade others to follow the Scriptures. Their response to the truth and their opinions of me IS WHAT IT IS.

THE END OF WEEK EIGHT ON OUR LEIPERS FORK, TENNESSEE 1805 CABIN BUILD: It was so HOT & HUMID this week! I spent a lot of time in the creek cooling off. I didn’t wear my Hoosiers Hat. I just put in the picture to remind us all that Fall is coming. The chimney side is now complete and we just finished putting in the window framing and small logs around those. Now let’s talk about how chinking should be done. If your cabin contractor doesn’t artfully fill your open checking in the logs - find a new contractor. If he doesn’t put solid fill between the logs, look around. All pioneer cabins had solid fill. Our chinking is designed to protect the log below it with a drip ledge. Suggest that to your contractor - they may have never seen one used on chinking. I don’t know everything, but I have restored and moved over 55 log homes and 25 barns from the pre-Civil-War-Era. DECIDE NOW IF YOUR GOAL IS TO BUILD YOUR DREAM HOUSE OR TO BUILD YOUR DREAM HOME LIFE: When Lori and I started the “move to the country” vision thing 33 years ago it was never just about land, a house, or becoming debt free. It was more than that - way more than that! We wanted our family to work together, live together with common goals, and to shrug off the city lifestyle of constant busyness. We dreamed of our children becoming servant leaders, not sports stars. Our goal was to train and prepare our children for real life and to give them practical biblical knowledge, living skills, and amazing people skills. WEEK #7 UPDATE: What an amazing week! The addition is going up and we are plowing our way through finishing up the chimney outside wall. We also framed in the windows on the front entrance! Next week we will add six to eight small logs. I am feeling great and grateful that so many of you are following our progress on this 1805 cabin being built as a retreat for my wonderful Tennessee client - THANK YOU!
