The Survivor Tree and Bartlett Tree Experts
The Survivor Tree is a Callery pear (Bradford pear) that miraculously survived the collapse of the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. Found in rubble with snapped roots, burned branches, and a blackened trunk, it was rescued, rehabilitated, and returned to the National September 11 Memorial & Museum in 2010. Today, it stands as a living symbol of resilience, hope, and rebirth, blooming in spring and changing colors through the seasons

Bartlett Tree Experts, the world’s leading scientific tree care company, played a key role in the tree’s rehabilitation. During its recovery, Bartlett scientists collected seeds and propagated 450 descendants of the original Survivor Tree. These saplings average 3–4 feet tall and are now cared for at John Bowne Agricultural High School in Flushing, Queens
