Ever wonder what happens during the Gunite phase of a pool build?π¦ Swipe through to see how the pool turns into a solid structure that starts looking like the finished design!β‘οΈ
During the Gunite phase, a mixture of cement, sand, and water is applied at high velocity around the reinforcing steel to create the poolβs structural shell. Unlike traditional poured concrete, Gunite is applied through a hose, allowing skilled crews to shape the walls, floor, steps, benches, tanning ledges, spa, and other features included in the design. The steel reinforcement and Gunite work together to create a strong, reinforced structure. πͺ This is also one of the biggest visual transformations of the entire build - what started as an excavated hole with steel and plumbing now really begins to look like a pool!
Once the Gunite is applied, the shell begins the important curing process before construction continues with tile, coping, decking, equipment, and the interior finish. Most of the Gunite will eventually be covered, but underneath those finishing touches is the structural shell of your pool.
