🐦🌿 BOA HUMMINGBIRD NERD ALERT— trees aren’t the only thing we nerd out about.
If you haven’t already, start filling and watching your feeders.
Fall hummingbird migration is underway across Southeast Texas. Migration along the Upper Texas Coast runs from July through October, with September being the big show.
Around Conroe, The Woodlands, Huntsville and surrounding areas, the bird you’re most likely to see pouring through is our Ruby-throated Hummingbird.💚
These tiny birds are making an absolutely ridiculous journey south toward Mexico and Central America, and many will stop along the Texas Gulf Coast to fuel up before continuing on.
And they aren’t the only ones worth watching for…although the ruby-thorated are going to be the most common in our area… also look out for
🐦 **Ruby-throated** - our main fall migrant and the one you’re most likely seeing right now.
🧡 **Rufous** - tiny, feisty little orange firecrackers
💜 **Black-chinned** - less common
Feeders are great, but if you really want hummingbirds hanging around your property, build them habitat. Get with me and I can refer you to an amazing Native Landscaper.

Native trees and shrubs matter too. They provide cover, perching locations, nesting structure and the insects hummingbirds need for protein.
