Great day to climb a tree!

A homeowner had a tree recently fall on her neighbor’s shed, and this tree was causing her worry due to its lean over her garage. She didn’t want a repeat situation and wanted to remove the risk. Spent the morning doing her removal.

I’m finishing up some scheduled jobs but have availability to come out within the next two weeks to consult with you on any tree needs you may have.

Got Mountain Pine Beetle Logs? Don’t Just Throw a Tarp Over Them!

Dead or infested pine logs can still harbor Mountain Pine Beetles. If they aren’t handled properly, beetles may emerge and spread to nearby healthy trees.

👉 Proper covering matters!
✔️ Use 6 to 10 mil clear plastic to cover the wood and ensure sunlight can pe*****te and heat up covered wood
✔️ Completely cover the logs — including the ends
✔️ Seal the edges tightly to the ground/staple them to the wood
✔️ Keep the wood fully sealed for at least 2 - 3 months in summer, longer as it gets colder

🌲 Have beetle-infested trees on your property? Palm to Pine Tree Care, LLC can help with safe removal and proper handling of affected wood.

Just a friendly arborist reminder to check your property for beetle hit trees if you haven’t already this summer.

Here’s what you’re looking for - pitch tubes on the trunks of trees.

Unfortunately, if you have mountain pine beetles in your trees the likelihood of them surviving is slim to none, but you can slow the spread by taking down the trees and covering, chipping and/or taking the wood offsite.

Why does hiring an ISA Certified Arborist matter?

Earning this certification means I’ve met rigorous standards for tree care knowledge, safety, and ethics. For you, that translates to:

✅ Proper Pruning: Avoiding techniques that leave your trees vulnerable to disease.
✅ Risk Assessment: Identifying structural issues before a storm turns them into a hazard.
✅ Informed Care: Scientific solutions for local pests like the mountain pine beetle.

Your trees are an investment in your property. Make sure they’re in professional hands. Whether you go with me for your job or someone else, make sure who you hire is certified to make the right decisions for your property.

Early detection is everything when it comes to Mountain Pine Beetles.

Here are 3 signs your tree is currently hosting beetles:

1️⃣ Pitch Tubes: Concentrated sap deposits looking like pieces of popcorn going up the trunk of the tree.
2️⃣ Frass: This looks like sawdust on lower limbs or the trunk of the tree which is a result of beetles boring into the tree.
3️⃣ Brown Needles: This indicates a tree in distress which could be from mountain pine beetles.

See the attached article from CSU for more helpful information.

Spotting these signs now could save you thousands in removal costs.

Tree Injections vs. Tree Removals

Beetles have become a major threat to our local pines, but luckily there are proactive ways you can protect your trees. Did you know preventative treatments can actually save you money when caring for your property.

As an ISA certified arborist, I use specialized treatments to keep your trees healthy and resistant to infestations.

🌲 An injection treatment that protects a pine tree for two years may cost around $200.

🌲 Removing the same pine tree due to a beetle infestation would likely cost a minimum of $500.

***Now let’s say that pine tree is next to a structure or power line, that technical removal would cost greater than $1,000.

It pays to be proactive.

Message, email, or call 248-752-5658 to schedule your free tree assessment and injection quote.

(Please remember every tree is different based on its size, location, and risks involved to service the tree)
