Safety isn’t just a certification—it’s a commitment built over years of work.

D. C. Taylor Co.’s journey to becoming Iowa’s first and only IOSHA VPP STAR mobile worksite began in 2018. Over seven years, our team worked through 19 rigorous VPP elements, strengthened processes, documented procedures, and - most importantly - put those practices into action across our offices and jobsites.

The result is more than a designation. It’s evidence of our ongoing commitment to continuous improvement, employee involvement, and our No. 1 core value: safety.

This achievement was made possible by the dedication of our leadership, office staff, and field crews ... and the work doesn’t stop here. We’re applying the same safety principles companywide and looking ahead to additional VPP certifications in the regions where we operate.

Last Friday was move-in day! 🚚🏢

The team was in high spirits as we settled into our brand-new headquarters and started making the space feel like home. It was exciting to see months of planning, hard work, and anticipation come together as we officially opened the doors to our new digs on the southwest side of Cedar Rapids.

A huge thank-you to everyone who helped plan, design, build, and move us into our new home. We couldn’t have done it without you!

Here’s to a new chapter for D. C. Taylor Co. and all that’s ahead. We’re excited to be here! 🎉

The move is officially underway, and as we pack up and head to our new home on the southwest side of Cedar Rapids, we’re taking a moment to say farewell to our office on Stickle Drive.

Since 2020, this office has been home to countless meetings, projects, milestones, and memories. It’s been an important part of D. C. Taylor Co.’s story, and we’re grateful for all that happened within those walls.

And no move would be complete without a proper send-off meal! A special thank-you to our pitmaster and former Vice President & Construction Manager, now retired, Timm Haefner, for keeping the crew well-fed as we packed, sorted, and loaded up. 🔥🍖

Cheers to Stickle Drive and the memories we’re leaving behind - and to an exciting new chapter in our brand-new headquarters!

💙 Happy National Son and Daughter Day! : How many parent-child duos work at D. C. Taylor Co.?

🤔Take a guess before you read on ...

Our CEO and President, as well as Jon and Kinnick (pictured), are a few of the five parent-child teams working side by side across our company. (Do you know any others?)

We think that says something special about D. C. Taylor Co. When employees encourage their children - or parents - to join the team, it's a sign of trust, pride, and a workplace people genuinely want to be part of.

As a family-owned business, we're incredibly grateful to have earned the confidence of so many families over the years. Thank you to every employee who has made D. C. Taylor Co. feel like home for generations.

🦺 We’re kicking off OSHA Safe & Sound Week! Safety isn’t just a policy at D. C. Taylor Co.; it’s our No. 1 core value.

Our Safety Manager kicked off the week with a meeting with field teams (roof technicians, lead persons, project supervisors, and project managers) to talk about what we can all do to keep ourselves and each other safe.

From speaking up and stopping work to finding and fixing hazards, every team member has a voice and an important role in our safety culture.

Our crews are the heart and soul of D. C. Taylor Co. They’re on the front lines every day, representing our company and the industry to our customers and communities.

This week, we’re recognizing our safety successes, sharing ideas, and challenging ourselves to keep getting better.

Safety is everyone’s responsibility. Let’s look out for one another - this week and every week! 💪

Today, we remember August 10, 2020, a day that forever changed our (HQ) community.

On that day, a powerful weather event known as a derecho tore through Cedar Rapids, Iowa, causing an estimated $7.5 billion in damage. Our headquarters was among the many businesses impacted, facing significant damage and extended power outages.

But what stands out most isn't what we lost; it's how our team responded.

Despite the challenges at our own facility, the people of D. C. Taylor Co. came together with extraordinary dedication, resilience, and teamwork to continue serving our customers when they needed us most. Their commitment reflected the values that define who we are and demonstrated the strength of our people in the face of adversity.

Today, we honor the resilience of our employees, our customers, and the entire affected area (Eastern Iowa and beyond). Thank you to everyone who helped us recover and move forward together.

Q: How quickly do I need to take action if I've got a puncture/tear on my roof?

A: “It needs to be taken care of as soon as possible. The damage can extend beyond the membrane itself – insulation can get wet, decking can get damaged, mold can grow. There are a lot of things that can happen if you let it pass. Sometimes there’s a small puncture, but when you get closer to the puncture, you feel the soft surface. That’s when you want to investigate if there’s more damage. If there’s wet insulation, how long has that leak has been going on?”

Whether a puncture goes unnoticed or repairs are delayed, a professional commercial roofing contractor can determine the full extent of the damage. Read more here: https://www.dctaylorco.com/blog/causes-prevention-for-roof-punctures-and-tears/
