We’re incredibly thankful for the friends, family, and customers who have trusted us and given Davis Family Tree Care a chance to serve them as we grow.

This photo is from one of our first trees, and there’s something pretty amazing about getting to do this for a living. As a kid, climbing trees, building forts, and spending all day in the branches was called playing. Somehow, now I get to put on a harness, grab a rope, climb a tree…and call it work.

Truth is, I’d probably be doing it for fun anyway.

We’re grateful for every opportunity we’ve been given and excited to keep serving our community and caring for its trees for years to come.

Thank you for helping a little father and son business get off the ground.

Meet the AirSpade.

This beauty uses highly pressurized air to carefully remove and loosen soil around tree roots without the damage that traditional digging can cause.

It allows us to expose the root crown, relieve soil compaction, inspect root health, and give your trees some much-needed Tree TLC™ — from the roots up.

Healthy trees start with healthy roots.

This tree looked fantastic from the outside. It had a full, green canopy, no obvious dead limbs, no fungal growth, and showed very few signs that anything was wrong.

Then one strong windstorm brought it down.

Surprisingly, the trunk didn't snap, and the root ball didn't pull out of the ground. Instead, the roots themselves failed. After removing the tree, we found extensive root rot caused by years of excess moisture trapped around the base of the trunk.

The culprit? A "mulch volcano."

When mulch, soil, or landscape material is piled high against the trunk, it traps moisture where the tree was never designed to stay wet. Over time, that constant moisture can lead to decay, weaken the root system, and create hidden structural problems that may not become obvious until the next storm.

A mulch ring is great for your tree—but keep it away from the trunk. The root flare should always be visible, allowing the base of the tree to breathe and stay dry.

The health of a tree isn't determined by what you see above the ground. It starts below the surface.

Healthy trees start with healthy roots.

If you're unsure whether your trees have buried root flares or mulch piled too high, we'd be happy to take a look.
